1803 Large cent: Is this one the S253?

Just asking for someone to confirm this one. I think it's got the small date with the 1 centered over a denticle and the 3 touching the drapery and on the reverse the die crack under TAT in STATES , and the die chip to the right of the denominator.

Yes, looks like it.
This is from the PCGS CoinFacts page on S-253.

@yosclimber Thanks for taking a look. I like to have confirmation while I'm learning the attribution process.
Nice example. You got the bug, brother.
As a follow up to our PM: Tom Reynolds says it is S253 “small date, small fraction”. Your attribution is correct.

Appears so, nice attribution, good work.

That is probably the correct attribution. I assume that you have this book in your library as it the key reference for that date range:

The reference for S-253 from that guide is:
That date has a wide range of varieties from S-243 through S-265, but in studying each I cannot find a more accurate attribution than what you have.
Thanks for the additional information! It is becoming a fun diversion and immersion into the hobby for me. I actually use the Red Book Guide and PCGS CoinFacts. The coin posted here is currently entombed in an S-264 attributed holder, that's why I began the thread and wanted corroboration.
That is obviously a major mistake as your coin is not a large date variety. You can use the book to quickly eliminate the varieties that the coin is not and then closely evaluate the remaining possibilities. It is not always easy. For example with your example, I had a hard time seeing the 8 as leaning, but it did not seem to fit any of the other possibilities.
The coin I posted does not belong to me. I agree, and of course mistakes can and do happen whenever humans are involved. I like die cracks as a diagnostic tool because they tend to be a unique identifier.
