Does this 1945 D look cleaned to you?

I thought this coin looks like it has been cleaned, what are your thoughts?
Also, can you spot the variety? (I do know that part at least 
)

Probably dipped after many years of poor storage. Some of the heavy toning did not come off. It looks dull.
Looks like a DDO to me.
I don't see any evidence of a prior cleaning in the images, which I think are pretty darn good. It looks like either this is stuff left over from a previous dip, or perhaps just as likely, it is simply schmutz accumulated over time from storage.

It looks like it needs cleaned.
It cracked me up when a friend of mine, an elegant young woman who does appraisals on Antiques Roadshow, was evaluating a piece of pottery. Her accent is also elegant since she was originally French-Canadian and there is a wee bit of extra elocution to her speech. The owner of the vase asked her about a bit of discoloration. She replied to the effect “It’s just a bit of smutz, you can just wash it off.”
PS. I still feel bad about breaking her finger at volleyball.
I’m guessing that was Suzanne Perrault? If so, I met her and her partner, David Rago and did business with them many years ago.

It does not appear to me to have been cleaned in any detrimental way.
But it looks like it might benefit from a proper "conservation" (dip).

@MFeld , we have that 1-degree of separation going on. You are spot on. They are just across the river from me in NJ, and we all were in the same pick-up volleyball game - when we were all a lot younger! (She was serving, and I threw her the ball. It landed just short and caught her finger as she reached for it. Snap! Ouch!)
I always liked Suzanne Perrault's segments on AR, but I've liked them for a long time. I'm sure she'd appreciate your description of her, though.
I wasn't aware of her origin - that certainly explains her distinctive speech pattern and her obvious mastery of French when she uses French terms in her appraisals.
Pictures do not always show cleaning in isolated areas. For example on the jacket there could be parallel lines ... die polish, light cleaning, my imagination. Coin in hand with loupe will give better idea, but I suspect you are deciding to buy or not.
On the plus side, it sure looks full steps with the RPM.

I liked that it is a variety but the look of the surface seems all wrong to me, so I left it where I found it (eBay)
The rpm 5 seems a little less common than the rpm 20 reverse on these DDO

Possibly a recent dip.
However - It flunks out bc of its spotted surfaces. No go for me.

The European French do not feel the same way about the French Canadians. Lol
Most likely dipped the brown spots - yuck. I think they trying get spots off and a little overboard on dipping. Nice try but doesn’t make the team for me.
