Such a cool collection with something at every price point! I ended up buying five of them, even though I’ll probably only keep these two. They’re fairly inexpensive. I do get weak in the knees for a great pedigree and a great story! This has both.
This coin was minted during the beginning of the 30 years war. The war was primarily a conflict within the Holy Roman Empire between Catholic and Protestant ideas. 1616 marks the execution of during the Fettmitch uprising. Where leaders of anti-Jewish groups were put to death.
The war itself starts in 1618.

The 30 Years War which ravaged central Europe had just started when some of these coins were minted.
That’s actually one of the motivations behind the purchase of my second coin. This one was minted during the 30 years war, or right before it (there’s not a single date for this coin.)
Zohar’s first coin in this list is also one of those.
