CACG 1869 Shield Nickel

CACG says this coin has been cleaned. If so, it appears to me to be very natural "skin" to the coin with the possible exception of the 5 and surrounding field on reverse. Lot's of interesting die breaks and rim cud.

It looks obviously cleaned to me. The "skin" looks like dip residue.
Cleaned or not I like the die cracks on that coin.
I agree. All my Shields are proofs and none have those nice die cracks that gives them character.
It's also a tall or narrow date variety. Somewhat more scarce than the normal date.
It has been cleaned and it is the tall date variety.
The devices look like the coin was lightly polished long ago then stored in an envelope or old album afterwards.
Agree with CACG - looks cleaned. Question - how would a problem coin dealer price it?
