Completely agree if the grades were the same (8's vs 8's and 9's vs 9's). The key here is the 70 cards are PSA 9's and the older cards are PSA 8's.

Not saying I disagree with you. Is it better to have a 57 Mays in PSA 8 or a Brett rockie in PSA 9? Very tough call.

One thing to factor is that there is still a lot of unopened of 70's out there to pull nice gradable cards out of. 50's and 60's is a different story.

Maybe for 77 and up. I doubt there's a lot of 73-75 unopened product that will produce a bunch of PSA 9 rookies for Schmidt, Winfield, Yount, Brett, Carter and Rice.

There's a lot of unopened product from the 70s in personal collections. A few of our longest tenured members in this forum have a pile of 'em. Couldn't say the same about 50s product. So, it's "possible" that more of the 70s rookies in PSA 9 could surface.
Again, the potential for opportunities is what I'm addressing here. 8 vs. 8 or 9 vs. 9 is an insignificant argument. The long term objective is to acquire items that are rarely seen or offered for sale if the 25K is being invested for a successful return.

    Farewell Ryno.

I don't know what the Pop Reports show for the 1970s in PSA 9, but if the numbers are similar I would go with the 50's lot. Either way it is a tough call.

Good points. Does anyone know what the 57 cards we are discussing sold for a decade ago (2015) compared to the 70's we are discussing?

That would be great data to look at. To make a wise investment decision that data would be a must to have.

If I recall correctly, you mentioned that you have a VCP membership. Every card on your lists has a back history of sales dating to 2007. You should be able to reference pricing for all quite easily.

    Farewell Ryno.

Yes I do. Does VCP list all EBAY sales (auction and buy it now results )plus auction house sales? Or do they just list a percentage of the sales?

Anything they can link is there. All eBay and auction house sales. You can study trends, up and downs, etc.
