I just received the Mercury Head Dime I had on layaway

I'm pretty happy about it and I figured I would share it with you guys.
It's for my box of 20.

Wow! Ms-68 is almost perfect!
Congratulations! That's a lofty grade and looks pristine.
Do the white prongs bother you? They do for me. They are particularly obnoxious surrounding a small coin IMO.

@Catbert I don't like NGC's holders at all. I prefer PCGS gold shield holders much more.
My plan is to send it to PCGS to see if it will cross. It will be submitted in the holder. I sure hope it does.
I'm already searching for my next purchase. I'm thinking a barber half. I just need to figure out a common date so I can buy a higher grade.

Due to the significantly higher prices that PCGS examples tend to bring, if the coin was bought from an active dealer (or collector), or through an auction company, chances are very good that it was already tried at PCGS.

@MFeld your probably right. I'll just keep it in this holder and not waste time and money.
I'm happy with it and that's what matters too me.
I just enjoy sharing my purchases on this forum.
I bought it from Northeast Numismatics. They are my favorite dealers.

Is there some sort of guarantee that PCGS will cross the grade?
Very nice looking dime.
I think if the seller had guaranteed that the coin would cross, the OP would have mentioned that.

Sweet. Well done.
I never asked. I don't think many dealers would make those kinds of guarantees.
It's a very nice coin it's almost perfect.
MS68 is a pretty high grade.
I know PCGS has high standards but I also think on any given day anything is possible.

Nice coin.
Whether it crosses or not, if it's a coin you like and believe is graded correctly, the plastic around it is unimportant

Congrats on your newp, it is unfortunate that a member decided to poop on this thread with his personal plastic holder issues.

You did well.
