Does Anyone Remember Coin World Grading??

I have to say, I've been in and out of the hobby for 50 years. I went to my favorite lcs and saw some large cents in Coin World Grading holders. These were obviously old holders but I can remember ever seeing Coin World Grading. Anyone provide any details?
I should have taken some pics!

I think the member @CaptHenway worked for Coin World once so he may know.
Are you sure they were actually TPG Coin World graded coins and not something your LCS graded themselves? They make Coin World holders that anyone can buy and put their own coins in as a self slabber, but I have never seen an actual TPG Coin World slab. With that said Amos Press, the publisher of Coin World, did own ANACS at one time, but they used the ANACS name not Coin World.

Maybe they were souvenirs in a plastic case handed out at shows with a Coin World logo and graded BU.
Not something the LCS did themselves. I think they have 3 or 4 and I believe they were all large cents. They had the actual numerical grades on them. The flips inside are a very dark green. I guess it's possible they were a giveaway years ago. I'm going to have to get pics when I go there later in the week.
This seems more likely.
And why can't your LCS print a numerical grade on a label?
Are you referring to these? https://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/coin-world-premier-coin-holders-29.0-mm-larger-large-cents.html
I'm not saying they couldn't, I was just responding back to $Redisin...
"Maybe they were souvenirs in a plastic case handed out at shows with a Coin World logo and graded BU."
Nope, that's definitely not them. They actually have "Coin World" on the flip.
Lol, I should have come to this more prepared, with pics. It just kind of hit me after I got home this weekend. I'll take some pics when I am there later in the week and post.
It's entirely possible that it was a holder they used to produce and people put their own info on them. I've just never seen anything like it before.
By "flip" do you mean label? Or are these soft slips? Coin World also makes paper labels for the snap together holders.
I have this, I think it was a promotional item, but they didn’t grade it.

Retracted.
Are you sure the source of that coin was Coin World? It looks to me like someone just put a merc in a commercially available snap together holder that anyone can buy.
Cannot speak to whether it has always been the same design, but here is what the Amos Advantage website says about their current premiere coin holder:

According to @messydesk (three posts down), this information is dated. He reports that these holders no longer include "Coin World" on them, and have not for several years. Just the CW globe in the lower left corner of both sides.
Yes. Isn't that what we're looking at? Anyone could have put that coin in the holder.
Here is an image of a (backordered) item from the Amos Advantage website. It appears to show the reverse side of the holder (i.e., CW logo and globe). To me, it closely resembles the holder posted by @Smudge.

This suggests, at least to me, that anyone, not just CW, could have put a coin in that holder, because the holder is commercially available. IOW, the presence of the CW logo does not automatically make it special.

The Coin World holders shown here no longer say "CoinWorld" on them and haven't for several years. They only have the globe logo in the lower left corner of both sides. I use these for raw cons submitted for attribution. I buy the dollar size by the case and others as needed. Apparently, nothing to do with the OP's question. Looking forward to seeing their pictures.

Nothing to do either but I love the Coin World holders. I keep my collection in 9 to a page Eagle brand coin albums. These holders are the perfect way to add raw coins to my 99% certified collection. james
If you use a lot of them for assorted sized coins, you can get a bunch the 39 mm silver round size and the small dollar size, then buy very inexpensive and easy to store Air-Tite foam rings in their Hxx and Axx sizes and cover lots of sizes and shapes of coins.

How, exactly, does it have nothing to do with the OP's question? Those coins could have come in to the store that way. He said they were "old holders". You think it more likely there was a Coin World slabbing service that none of us ever heard of?
Cwæþ the OP, "Nope, that's definitely not them. They actually have 'Coin World' on the flip."

Respectfully, the OP also described what he saw as a "grading holder", with "flips inside (that) are a very dark green", and "'Coin World' on the flip". Certainly sounds like it could be an older CW premier holder.
Now to: "Nope, that's definitely not them. They actually have "Coin World" on the flip." I interpreted this to mean the the main difference was "Coin World" on the 'flip/holder', which could be explained by the design change that you highlighted.
Like you said, looking forward to the OP's pictures.
Regardless, while it did not directly answer the OP's question, the sub-discussion about the CW premier holders had some value, IMHO. It allowed you to highlight the fact that the design had changed. Ditto for the sub-discussion about using foam rings in an oversized CW premier holder. This is an excellent idea; Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for all the responses so far. I didn't mean to cause any arguments! The green holder above is similar but not exact and I didn't see the reverse side of it.
I'm really looking forward to seeing them again to try to get some closure!
Ok, so just for clarification, they did end up being the dark green and black holders that snap together. I'll have to add pics from my phone in a little bit. What threw me off was that whoever put the coins in the holders, not only put their own grade on them but also had the Coin World logo on the flip. I appreciate all the comments in the tread!!
And now that you've seen the pictures...?
When you bought the snap-together holders, they came with an insert you could type on. It's the CoinWorld logo, not CoinWorld grading.

Lol, I was going by memory and I'm not as young as I used to be. Cut an old guy a tiny bit of slack!
I'm sorry. That was not intended to be a shot at you. The person I was responding to had basically told us that we were off base on our "investigation". He was the one i was responding to.
