Ohh… THAT’S Doubling!

Coming from someone who is still somewhat new to coins and has on multiple occasions fallen into the “well is this one doubled?” trap, thought I’d share with y’all a recent find!
It makes my heart happy to not have to ask 😂 First coin that made me really say “Ohhh… THAT’S what doubling is” 👯♂️ Found two of these bad boys same day.

Which doctor (md) ?
Or did you mean something else that the thread originator (who said that’s he’s somewhat new to coins) might want to study?

Looks like FS-104 from here. Take an extra long look at the tail of the R. Notice that the secondary image is not distorted, it's larger than if it were not doubled, and the end of the R is notched, not spread out.
This document from the late JT Stanton is a great study for doubling.
I've also pinned this topic on VAMWorld about doubled dies.

I agree with FS-104.
I might remind some of our veterans that just because it's a new poster, doesn't mean they can't be right.

I agree with FS-104 also.

Agree with FS-104, but you will get better microscopic photo results if you either connect your Elikliv to your computer via USB or use an SD card to transfer the image. A photo of the screen is suboptimal. And it does take a little playing around with the several included lighting sources to get the best result. But indeed, nice find.
Looks like a nice find.
Nice find. It’s not self doubling! Agree on the Fs-104 diagnosis.
Nice catch 👍
Congrats on your double find doubled die.
@FlyingAl I agree. I was pretty early to respond here and even so, two incorrect assertions of mechanical doubling were made in the time it took me from opening the thread, looking up the variety, and responding. My FS104 determination was independent of the OP as I hadn't noticed he listed the variety already

where did you find them if you don't mind me asking?
Not at all! There’s a local auction house that handles estate sales here in Phoenix - every once in a while I’ll drop by and bid outrageously on loose coins / sets - that’s how I ended up with almost 100 1960-80 proof sets and SMS sitting in my closet
Congrats on your find + I like your images!
