Yes, I think a sellout is possible, why?
Not only for the low-ish mintage, but because on 6/13/25 they will be offered for PRESALE, and won't ship until 7/29/25.
6 weeks is a long time for the hype to develop.
The Mint is taking a page(and the coins) right out of the ABBP's & TPG's Advanced this, First that playbook, and offering the coins to the public only. No Bulk 40 trays will be sold to the Big Boys in advance.
So, we'll have another cluster____ on day one because the retailers, flippers, and collectors will be grabbing up thier 1-3 coins all at once. I can already see(not yet) the eBay "Order Confirmed" presale's of their own by the dozens & dozens, weeks before being "In Hand".
This upcoming USM 'presale' looks to be very reminiscent of the FHG fiasco. And good for them.
Just my $.02, and edited for grammar.

I'm not sure i disagree with the basic premise. But I would like to correct one thing: they didn't take this out of anyone's playbook. The Mint has had pres-sales before with varying degrees of success.
In the end, the demand is what the demand is. In fact, the pre-sale can also work AGAINST a sellout. If no flip develops on the first day of the pre-sale, you will get a wave of cancelations before the shipment takes place.
It will sell out because 100k is the right number for a proof eagle. It is probably not low enough, however, to be a long term winner.

With all due respect, and recalling both FH fiascos, where are you getting no Big Boy advance sales from? Based on recent history, if anyone thinks these are going to be winners, there is no way they are going to making the Big Boys get in line with the rest of us.
Oh, and whatever they say will not necessarily be what they do. Presale =/= no advance sales, or bulk sales.
As far as I can tell, the only reason for the presale here is because they want the release to coincide with the Army's 250th anniversary on 6/14, and they apparently won't have the coins ready to go by then. Not due to anything special with locking out Big Boys.
They didn't do it with a mintage of 50K last year (supposed to be 75K). Or 10K (supposed to be 17.5K). Even though, in both cases, they vastly under produced what they announced as a maximum. And, threw a bunch of valuable lottery tickets the Big Boys' way with the silver FH privy medals. They are not doing it with a mintage of 100K.
The Big Boys will most certainly be getting theirs, and you'll be seeing Advance Releases and all the other special flavors all over TV and the internet. Which will only contribute to the quick sell out on 6/13.
Just my 2 cents - this coin (offering) has a very cool factor
well beyond the financial monopoly. I will try (my very bestest)
to get a copy just only for keeps.
"No Bulk 40 trays will be sold to the Big Boys in advance."
That is pure speculation, and a guess on my part, so there's that.
The 2025-W Proof Army ASE has a dedicated "Item Number"/Product code page(25APM), but not a dedicated page for the bulk 40's(25APM040). That tells me that no bulk 40 trays will be available to anyone.
Yes, there's probably a workaround for the AP's to get their hands on a bunch of them so they can send them in to get their favorite "Advanced" type labels. If they(the big boys) have to wait in line with the rest of us(like they did with FHG), that won't stop them(or me for that matter)from getting those same "Advanced" labels through the TPG's Bulk Submission program.

No. Eligibility for the "Advance" labels requires they actually get them in advance, and get them to the TPGs in advance.
Either they get them or they don't. They did with the burnished ASEs. And with the FHGs. You can find them for sale on eBay right now.
No reason to think they won't get them here. Bulk 40 coin trays or not. Did you look to see if they set up bulk 40 coin trays ahead of the burnished ASE release? If not, your failure to find a placeholder for them now might not might not be significant.
FHG coins were indeed available to dealers in advance of the release. Not in 40 coin trays, but still.
When it became apparent that the mintage was 10K, and not the advertised 17.5K, a robust secondary market developed for them among dealers. In fact, they received a disproportionate early allocation, since it was based on the higher mintage figure. Which only further contributed to the hyper quick sell out, and was yet another way the Mint took care of its best customers while playing games with the rest of us.
The 3 minute sell out was caused by buying groups, and by so few coins actually being available for sale. Not by Big Boys waiting in line with the rest of us. Because a condition of being able to get guaranteed coins in advance is to not slam the website with the rest of us on release day.
@NJCoin
Thanks for the reminder on the FHG and the big boys, that was just wrong for them to even get an allocation imo.
Buying groups and the Big Boys are one in the same to me. Even after the sellout, retailers like Pinehurst and Collect Pure were openly offering to buy from the public, only to re-flip the coins after TPG treatments. The 17.5k limit debate was left wide open for interpretation between Coin World, Michael White, and all of us. Thankfully, that horse is long dead from repeated beatings.
Last time I checked(too long), all that I needed was 100+ coins to qualify for a TPG bulk submission, and get those "Advanced" labels in the process -- however you're right, I would need to show a date of purchase that qualifies the coins/labels? And I digress...

Thanks for the kind words! But you are confusing "Advance Release" with other labels like "First Strike," "Early Release" and even "First Day of Issue."
"Advance Release" is super hyper special. Only available to the select few in the ABPP program. They pay a premium for the coins, rather than getting a bulk discount.
They are limited in number. They are delivered early by the Mint, and delivered to the grading services early (before the official on sale date), in order to get the coveted label.
The grading services also charge a premium for the label, rather than providing a discount, because the label generates big bucks for the sellers. I'm not sure why, because they are the exact same coins. But people are willing to pay a significant premium for a meaningless pedigree (basically, they are a Mint designated subset of a release), so, capitalism.
All this said, no, no matter how many coins you submit, or when you buy them, if you are not an ABPP buyer, and are not submitting coins purchased early, through the program, at a premium, you are not getting Advance Release slabs, unless you buy them from an ABPP dealer on resale.

We should also do colorized versions of each and of course from each mint too. For example:
Each of the below available with S, D, P, W mintmarks and second privy for New Orleans, Carson City
2025 "name the military branch" colorized
non-colorized
reverse proof
frosted uncirculated
Niobium plated in purple, green, blue, yellow, red
Regular Proof
Uncirculated Proof-Like
I think that would make 66 varieties for each of the military branches. That will keep the Silver Eagle collectors busy for awhile.
This whole thing is crazy.

Is it, though? There is a market, and they are feeding it. They are going to sell 300,000 ounces of silver at over $100 per ounce that they otherwise would not have sold. Some would say not doing so when given the opportunity would be crazy. Just crazy.

U.S. MINT PRESS RELEASE
United States Mint Begins Pre-Sale for the 250th Anniversary United States Army American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin on June 13
WASHINGTON – The United States Mint (Mint) will begin pre-sale for the 250th Anniversary United States Army American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin on June 13 at noon (ET). This 99.9% silver proof coin struck at the Mint facility at West Point is expected to begin shipping on July 30, 2025. Production is limited to 100,000 coins, and orders are limited to three coins per household for the first 24 hours that the coin is on sale.
The U.S. Army seal in the obverse design serves as a special privy mark honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States Army.
The obverse features a depiction of Adolph A. Weinman’s full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2025.”
The reverse features an eagle as it approaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as if to add it to a nest. Inscriptions are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." The reverse was created by Mint Artistic Infusion Program Designer Emily S. Damstra (ESD marks) and sculpted by former Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso (MG marks).
This precious metal coin has been updated with enhanced security features, including a reeded edge variation.

Not so fast. The AP's placed their orders already. So much for fair and equal access lol. Yesterday 6/5 was the last day for them to place an order, and they depleted their cut. Next week's report should reveal how many they ordered? The AP's have the luxury of sitting on the sidelines while the little people lounge in the USM Waiting Room on drop day. Oh well.

Or you can simply do what I will do and pass on these and all "privy" marked coins. $105 is three times melt price and for no real change in design. An easy pass.

Yes. They are the Mint's largest and best customers. The exact opposite of "members of the public." That would be the rest of us.
The alternative is having them line up an army to slam the website at noon along with the rest of us. Making it even more difficult than it already is for us to get through for high demand items, as this is very likely to be.
So this is the solution the Mint came up with. One way or the other, they ARE motivated to take care of their largest and best customers. Witness how the FH silver medal privys were distributed.
Acknowledging the demand for this coin, I believe the Mint lowering the HHL to 1 knows that on Saturday the deep pocket orders will reign supreme and make their job of creating a sellout a lot less messy. Or will the Mint be benevolent and not remove the HHL or perhaps go back to the original HHL of 3. This will be interesting to say the least. I was already to buy three on Friday.

No. The Mint very likely always knew these were winners, so having a sellout was never an issue. Nothing is going to be "less messy," because there will be a logjam and waiting room on Friday either way.
All reducing the HHL to 1 does is knock out some of the buying club action, because, for the non-collector, going to the trouble for $20 is 2/3 less exciting than doing it for $60. They will just slam the website at noon on Saturday with all of the other usual suspects, when it will actually be worth their while.
Some of them will win big, since they will be able to grab 99 instead of 3 before they are all gone. Most will lose, as with the FH silver medals, because they will be gone in a minute or 2, selling whatever people can afford, up to 99 at a clip.
As I said in my other post, though, it doesn't really matter. People who are motivated will have 24 hours to get one. At that point, the Mint has done its job of placing them in collectors' hands.
No reason to dribble them out after that. The Mint sets HHLs of more than 1 only to try to balance its desire to sell out with an interest in ensuring people who want one have an opportunity to get one.
They are not ever really trying to satisfy a desire to get 3, 5, 10, 25, or whatever. Those are just arbitrary levels they set to try to ensure a sellout before interest fades. Which is why, whatever the limit is, it's almost always lifted after 24 hours.
After the initial ordering window, they just want to sell them. Rare exceptions are things like the V75 AGE, due to their tiny mintages. Not something like this, with a mintage of 100K.

Agreed, "for the American Eagle silver dollar program", yet according to the Mint, last years FHG was the "first Laser Engraved Coin in USM History"...
I suspect that the USM will produce Laser Engraved Dies for all coinage soon enough.

I'm sorry, but this really does not seem that interesting to me a AT ALL. They are already selling several hundred thousand proof ASEs, from both San Francisco and West Point. Plus 100K for each of the 3 military branches being commemorated this year.
And THEN, just to have something to introduce at the ANA show, they are contriving yet another flavor, "struck from master tooling created using the latest technology (laser engraving)." Not next year, but now. Not just quietly introducing it, but pretending like it's a new reverse design by adding a privy to let you know it's different, because otherwise you might not know. For no reason other than to squeeze another 100K in sales out of the program.
The military one-offs are interesting, and I won't be able to resist. The privy to denote the mid-year introduction of "master tooling created using the latest technology (laser engraving)"? I can probably live without it. YMMV.
Glad you find it to be "an interesting first." To me it looks like nothing other than a naked attempt to grab another $105 from you. Because the master tooling was created by a person wearing a purple t-shirt on a Tuesday with an even numbered date. And we know this because they marked it with a privy.

Actually, it's almost exactly the same as P&G - and every other producer - giving preferential treatment to large buyers. Those buyers don't just buy special releases. To qualify, they have to be buying hundreds of thousands of dollars in proof and mint sets and other commemorative issues. Personally, i think they should get more preferential treatment. Walmart doesn't pay MORE to P&G.

Actually, it's almost exactly the same as P&G - and every other producer - giving preferential treatment to large buyers. Those buyers don't just buy special releases. To qualify, they have to be buying hundreds of thousands of dollars in proof and mint sets and other commemorative issues. Personally, i think they should get me preferential treatment. Walmart doesn't pay MORE to P&G.
Don't get me wrong. I totally get it. My point was simply that the federal government's first priority to should be to individual taxpayer/collectors. Not to its largest commercial clients. Because it's not a for-profit business like Walmart. It is a federal agency that is supposed to be serving me. Not Walmart, err, The Coin Vault, and not even itself.
The Big Boys should be forced to get in line with the rest of us. Or, better yet, sent to the back of the line, where they could scoop up whatever is left of low demand items. In quantity, and at significant discounts.
Absolutely no good reason to give the Big Boys priority and guaranteed allocations on high demand items that the Mint does not need them to sell at significant markups to the rest of us. No need to reward them for being big distributors of ordinary items.
That is their business, and they are not doing the Mint a favor by buying them at a discount from the Mint, sending them out to be graded, and then retailing them to the rest of us at a markup. What the Mint did with the silver FH privys was a sin.
No need to apologize. It is not interesting, it is a money grab scheme which many will fall for. No privy marks here, just three a year, the two proofs and one uncirculated, three and done. These rank right with all that superheroes junk.

@VanHalen

If they(the big boys) have to wait in line with the rest of us(like they did with FHG), that won't stop them(or me for that matter)from getting those same "Advanced" labels through the TPG's Bulk Submission program.
.
.
And here we go already ⇊ -- Let the Hype-Scams Begin...
https://www.ebay.com/itm/135855496340
@NJCoin
This whole thing is crazy.
Just crazy.
Pete
Is it, though? There is a market, and they are feeding it. They are going to sell 300,000 ounces of silver at over $100 per ounce that they otherwise would not have sold. Some would say not doing so when given the opportunity would be crazy. Just crazy.
Figured they would be at least $100 so $105 doesn't sound bad. I'm in for three.
What is the American Eagle 2025 One Ounce Silver Coin - Laser Beam Privy Mark. MS? WHY?????
WHY???? Because it is going to allow the federal government to sell 300,000 ounces of silver at $105 each.
That's WHY!!!! You would do it too if you could.

No. Denver doesn't make proofs. There are no announced plans for Air Force or Space Force. Likely because they are not having a 250th anniversary this year!
"Note: To ensure that all members of the public have fair and equal access to United States Mint products, the United States Mint will not accept, nor honor orders placed prior to the official pre-sale date of June 13, 2025, at noon EDT."

Witness how the FH silver medal privys were distributed.
no surpriise, i'm not a fan of advanced release, but one thing it cuts down on is insta-flipping from the masses like me
Acknowledging the demand for this coin, I believe the Mint lowering the HHL to 1 knows that on Saturday the deep pocket orders will reign supreme and make their job of creating a sellout a lot less messy.
Not something like this, with a mintage of 100K.
you know current or former army?
They pay a premium, have to pick up the coins themselves and buy hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of coins annually to qualify.
Yes. Whoop dee doo. They pay a premium because they get to sell them at a bigger premium. They pick them up themselves, and we pay for shipping until we qualify for free shipping.
The key is that they buy a lot of product, so they get to push to the front of the line, and get guaranteed access to product, in quantity that others don't get. They don't have to take anything they don't want, but they get guaranteed access to winning lottery tickets and lucrative flips, like the FH gold coins.
So let's not pretend it's anything other than what it is. A government agency taking care of big customers to the detriment of retail taxpayers.
It's understandable why Proctor & Gamble gives preferential treatment to Walmart over the corner deli. Less so why the US Mint gives preferential treatment to the Coin Vault over me.
Some additional on the LASER PRIVY ASE (25EALE) to be released 08/20 from Coinworld
It is a "proof" though not listed on the site page ( and not a burnished)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------o----------------------------------------------------------------
On Aug. 20, the Mint plans to release another limited edition Proof 2025-W American Eagle
silver dollar with a laser beam privy mark
U.S. Mint spokeswoman Sharon McPike provided some details about the Aug. 20 product:
It is a one-of-a-kind chance to acquire an American Eagle silver dollar struck from
master tooling created using the latest technology (laser engraving).
The offered coins result from the United States Mint’s first time using this new
process for the American Eagle silver dollar program.
All subsequent programs moving forward (2026 and beyond) will incorporate
this technology.
Product limit for this coin will be 100,000 coins.
A Laser privy mark is incorporated to distinguish these coins from
the rest of the 2025 American Eagle silver dollar products.

"Looks like an interesting "first.""
Agreed, "for the American Eagle silver dollar program", yet according to the Mint, last years FHG was the "first Laser Engraved Coin in USM History"...
I suspect that the USM will produce Laser Engraved Dies for all coinage soon enough.
Go to about the 3 minute mark(to skip intro) below to get to Designer & Medallic Artist John McGraw's statement.

Even the X cancel mark on the die looks to have been CNC laser guided(and cut) to follow the topographic contours of the incuse design. ⇊. What say you @dcarr ?

PCGS should set up a grading and slabbing service right at the mint except when they are doing shows.
Which of them will be flippable for a profit?
I'm sorry, but this really does not seem that interesting to me a AT ALL. They are already selling several hundred thousand proof ASEs, from both San Francisco and West Point. Plus 100K for each of the 3 military branches being commemorated this year.

Glad you find it to be "an interesting first." To me it looks like nothing other than a naked attempt to grab another $105 from you. Because the master tooling was created by a person wearing a purple t-shirt on a Tuesday with an even numbered date. And we know this because they marked it with a privy.
I simply like the ASE as an original (modern) US Silver Dollar.
I would have preferred a burnished version but OK.
Those of you who wanted the Mint to lower the release
date quantity to just 1(one) unit now HAVE YOUR WISH !
Actually, it's almost exactly the same as P&G - and every other producer - giving preferential treatment to large buyers. Those buyers don't just buy special releases.
