Andy that’s right up your alley!
This would have been much better with ANY advance notice...
Is there any additional info, description, etc. you can provide? Dealers attending, anything. We talking Diego Paz, people like that?
So I can't vouch for ANY of this personally - I'm looking this up on the fly last minute and I don't know these ppl - but if you're in the NYC area, involved in Mexican/Latin American coinage, this seems an interesting chance to network and talk shop a bit.
Plus it's currently pouring in the metro area as I type... not like we'd be missing a beach day tmrw.
Looks like a Daniel Martel is involved... and the special guest will be a Carlos Ajo (I'd be remiss not to comment that Charlie Garlic is the best neighborhood nickname ever...). Do your due diligence from here.
Last minute, but think I'm going to shoot in for it.

Rambling show report:
Show was a nice little gathering. As @superpsychmd (who I had a nice talk with... he also loves Too Good To Go!!) indicated prior, fairly cozy event, just about 15 tables, $10 admission (this IS Midtown Manhattan - or more properly K-Town for locals LOL, HMart right across the street for your shopping convenience). Showrunner Daniel was very pleasant and enthusiastic, makes a good emcee... had lively hourly raffles, worked the floor greeting and browsing. In general, the crowd/dealers were predominantly Spanish-speaking, as it seems much of the promotion was done via Spanish-language FB and IG coin groups/accounts. I strongly suggested doing some more outreach to English-speaking coin groups, forums, etc., emphasizing that there are a good amount of us non-Hispanics who are heavily into Spanish Colonial/Latin American. Was fairly decent foot traffic in the room, seemed like purchases were being made, and the patrons generally seemed like pleasant people.
In terms of material, it was a mixed bag of some tables with older Latin American coins (several Mexican, one looked to have mainly Guatemalan and I saw some solid-looking Chilean condor pesos over someone's shoulder in a showcase but then never made it back around), some with older Mexican paper money... then some mainly dealing in bullion-type pieces or modern mint material (Banco de Mexico). Mainly wasn't super high-end material, but not junk either. Lastly, as I guess he wanted to fill out the room, there were a few sellers with mainly older U.S. material. LOL, one had a quite decent looking 1803 large cent I probably should have seriously considered!
After surveying much of the room quickly, I settled down and spent most of my time talking to two gentlemen whose display looked most worthwhile, with a case of slabbed Mexican republic and colonial plus several 2x2 boxes of material you don't often see at shows, especially here in El Norte - lots of Cap & Ray minors and especially a very nice group of State Coppers. Alongside superpsychmd whom they knew, we had a good conversation (I talked their ear off way too much!)... clearly very well versed in Mexican numismatics. Figured out the one guy was familiar with me from the forums when I mentioned who I was... b/c my head is sometimes up my rear, didn't occur to me to ask his user ID until further into our talk. I think he said his ID was @pruebas ???
Anyway, bought a pair of coppers, most notably a really nice 1830 Potosi 1/4R, and I very much appreciate pruebas's input on a few things I was picking his brain about.
Overall, a good experience.

Rumors (and hopes for) my demise have been greatly exaggerated!
Nice to meet such intelligent and talented numismatists (and overall nice people) like @realeswatcher and @superpsychmd in the flesh. We need more folks like them.
The show wasn’t half bad either. There’s even early talk of another, more expanded one later this year.
Excellent coin, by the way!
Thanks for the report, sounds like a show I would have enjoyed! I would have enjoyed a show in Spanish also.

Welcome back

You guys did such a great report on the show that I’m relieved lol. Very accurate on all counts and I’m very happy to have attended on many levels. It was a pleasure making the acquaintance of knowledgeable numismatists and I think we should form an informal collecting club in Manhattan for Latin American material. We just need a low key venue where we can have semi-privacy to play show and tell. Anyone interested?
@pruebas is back!!!

Nice report… I would consider attending with advance notice. How was the venue and would that location be used again?
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Nice venue and I heard they will do it again in a few months
Sounds like a nice specialized show. Too bad I don't live closer, or I would have attended.
Also, welcome back @pruebas - missed your contributions to the discussion over here.
On a separate note, I'm in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday night if anyone local wanted to grab a dinner / drinks. Staying at the Hyatt Grand Central.

Many folks were taking videos, but as of today, this is the only one I’ve found on YouTube and it’s been auto-dubbed into English.
Though this one was geared mainly to the Hispanic community so they can learn about coins in their native language, I will be pushing that the show also be geared to higher end folks of all ethnicities who like Latin American numismatics.
I was shown the larger salon where the next show will be held. It’s twice as large and they are talking about 30 tables. We need to push @MrEureka to bring his lower end material and join us for a fun day. I’d love to see both @superpsychmd and @realeswatcher on the other side of the table too, so I can find stuff that I’d like to buy.
A friend from Boston was planning to come and discuss his new work on the Caballito Peso, but family duties prevented it.
I suggested to Daniel, the show promoter, that he have a few optional brief educational talks (English and/or Spanish) to help people learn. I’d be willing to talk about something and I’m sure others would too.
Maybe an East Coast USMex convention?
I watched the YouTube video earlier and looked like a small but nice show, as I recalled reading this thread earlier. And now I see the video posted by none other than... @pruebas
I think I would be interested in setting up at a future iteration of this show. I can prepare some albums for Latin American coins in Spanish/Portuguese to show and sell.
