    Pie crimper, sometimes you can find them with wooden handles still attached!

    Nowadays, I couldn't imagine using a dirty brown coin for food processing.

    I’ve seen a few of those (usually Large Cents) at coin shows over the years…always thought they were really cool. 😎

    I think we should keep in mind that when they were used it was likely with contemporary coinage and that it would have again likely been washed or cleaned or cared for like any other kitchen utensil. So, I doubt it was dirty or corroded when in use, it was simply another metal utensil.

    When that pie crimper was made, the cent probably was brand new and federal dollar bills didn't exist.
