Going to Carson City. Any Advice?

I'm going to Carson City in a couple of weeks. Anything worth seeing or doing besides the mint?

Check out Northern Nevada Coin just across the street from the old Carson City Mint.
There is also the Nevada State Railroad Museum just down the street to the south from the Mint.

A short drive to Virginia City might be worthwhile. I say “might” because VC has lost some of its charm over the years, the victim of tourism. Still, worth checking out - lots of history.

Walk the old west side. Find Abe Curry’s house. Hike the trails around town.

Definitely Northern Nevada Coin will be worth your while. Enormous selection, and plenty of stuff on display.
    Nice folks, too!

You should head up the hill and check out Virginia City for sure. There's a lot of history still visible from the Comstock silver rush.

For something different, take a short drive to Genoa (pronounced Jen-OH-ah). The oldest bar in the state of NV is there. Very rustic with lots of outdoor tables in a quaint old town. Very fun place with lots of locals.

If you decide to go to Genoa, take your swim suit and spend a few hours at Wally's Hot Springs. Great pool and bar!

when you get over the hump to Tahoe take a right and go to Sand Harbor beach....you'll love it. Right turn toward Incline Village, North shore.

Do they have a Comstock museum or similar where one can kinda see what went on with that? Just a thought 🤔

There are mines that are open to the public for tours. Expect to be wet, damp, and dark.

Virginia City was pretty cool and worth seeing since "C" St. (The Main Street) is very much like it was in the 1870's.

It was kind of disappointing how run down all the building were though. I would have expected a tourest area with money flowing in would have things much more restored.

Not coin related but fuel up in Carson City as the price is like .60 cents higher per gallon due to some transi tax in Reno.

Area prices can be checked at gasbuddy.com

Totally agree, check out the "Buckets of Blood Saloon", and visit a few silver mines. The Mint in CC is worth it too.

If you are heading to or from Northern California Route 50 is a very beautiful ride from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe. Its slower than 80, but gorgeous!

Try staying Sorensons's B&B in the high sierras just above (Carson City)

My sister and her family lived in Carson for many years. Old Reds (on 395) was always a cool place to get some food. Downtown Carson has some amazing new places to eat too. If you are crazy like me, drive all the way down to Mono lake on the CA back-door side of Yosemite.... it's cool too, because the scenery on the drive is amazing on the back size of the Sierras.

We went to Yosemite first and then to CC via Mono Lake. You're correct, some amazing views.
