Uncirculated 1935 Woody Cent? or some sort of environmental damage?

I came across this coin and can't really understand what happened to cause this. What are your thoughts? Thanks

Sure looks like "woody" - and a nice one at that!

Wood grain from improper mix of alloyed metals.

Definitely a woody, though there may be a slight case of improper storage on top of that. Still a nice coin.

I think I see what you see, there is an off white granular substance collected in some of the letters and the date, I never noticed that until now, would soaking in acetone or maybe soap and water? I don't want to damage it in any way

I think it to be a very nice woody. Good pickup.

If it were mine I would give it an acetone rinse.

It looks like an extreme example of a woody. It would make an excellent exhibit piece.

Thanks Jim, I was very lucky to have found it amongst a extremely large collection that I purchased, as it was in a tube of cents dated 1935, I can only give credit to my friends father who originally added it to his collection, he once ran vending machines for a living from the 30's or 40's to the 70's, so some kid probably got a gumball with it back in 1935
