Yet another coin I need help with. I found out today that these came in both small letter edge and large letter edge varieties. After finding photos of both type, I have deemed this the Large Letters variety. Can someone help me pinpoint the Cohen number?

Without access to my book, I would guess a 2b. NGC variety plus is down also, so a wild guess.

    That is an honest coin.
The problem noted doesn't bother me.

Thank you! If it is a 2B large letters it would be a spendy coin. I think I will send it to PCGS for variety attribution. Plus, as @braddick pointed out, the problem that NGC states isn't that bad and I feel there is a slight chance that it straight grades, especially if it is a rarer variety.

It is a C-2. Small letters variety (a) is rated at 2+ while the large letters variety (b) is rated at 6. These were taken from the Manley reference.

Awesome coin and well done @jesbroken for attributing this one by memory. Feels really good to master a series in that way.

Something interesting regarding a 1794 large edge lettering C-2b, most references state that the right side of the wreath(facing) has only 4 berries, as it appears yours does have. While Breen states that the 2b reverse has 5 berries on the right side wreath(facing), but it is mostly covered by a leaf just below the A2 left stanchion(my word). Interesting and look at your coin's photo provided.

BTW, I would definitely have the coin attributed by PCGS(only if I hoped to get it straight graded), if not, I would just have John @messydesk attribute it for you. Either way you end up with Insurance, S/H fee and other fees associated with whatever path you select. Good luck.

LOL. No where near a master of any series, I just happened to have had a 1795 and a 1794 that made me read and study the two. Wouldn't know which way to look at a 1793 Liberty Cap Half Cent. Thanks for the compliment, regardless.
