69+

I hadn’t seen the 69+ grade from any tpg yet, and I personally think it’s about time one of them stepped up to offer this grade. Thank you icg! Now, when will pcgs follow suit?

if a single glass needed tick separates a 69 from a 70, what's the 69+ look like?
1/2 a tick?
ok, now that's settled. how long is a full length tick and who's measuring them?
and we'll need to measure width and depth, probably using an ai adjusted 3-d nano scanner to get the total volume. now are we doing half the volume or 1/8th the volume?
The 69+ grade for modern bullion strike thru errors actually makes the easiest sense, because the coins are essentially flawless and then you take the lowest possible deduction for the actual error.
But there are actual special strike coins where the 69+ grade would be top pop and significant. Cheerios dollars and Sacagawea vip strikes come to mind. 1995-w silver eagles may also benefit from the + bump too.
What other coins would gain value if they garnered the 69+ grade?
special strikes can be 70s. there are 95W 70s. but they can be 68s
for any single coin to benefit from a +, it would need to be separated somehow from the 70s and 69s. how?
I’m holding out for a MS70+

ah
going for eye appeal...
Unfortunately not even perfect 70 moderns in Icg or Anacs holders bring the market as with PCGS and NGC. NGC does plus grades, so does PCGS, but the latter does not do "star" grades.
Or a PO1+

The 70 star grades from NGC are extremely hard to get, and you may want to pursue at least one of those for your core collection. I’ve only owned 1 of the 70star coins, and have seen less than 5 total.
Must be a gnarly coin for ICG to not give it a 70
A 95-w in a 69 holder is worth ~$2500-$3000, and a 70 is worth ~$10,000-$12,000. I think that a 69+ would benefit from that added plus and give it a value of ~$5,000.
There are definitely different degrees of 95-W’s in 69 holders, and once you look at enough of them, you’ll know what a 69+ is. The grade technically does exist, the tpg companies just need to acknowledge it. Problem is there are so many other modern proof coins where the line would be so fine, and there wouldn’t be a price guide increase for a common as dirt proof 69 statehood quarter jumping to an equally common proof 69+ grade (or proof 70 grade for that matter).
Too me that seems unecessary
Wouldn’t that be a P01– ?
You would think, but allow me to give it a different texture.
Here are examples of what I consider to be "PO1 +" Kennedy half dollars:
(not my coins)
Here is an example of what I would consider a PO1 Kennedy, yet without the "+"
(not my coin)
Just as not all GD4, or any grade level, coins within a series have the same level of attraction, the same can be said about PO1s.
There are highly attractive XF40 Bust halves. There are also XF40 Bust halves that 'make the grade' yet are stained and/or unnatractive for a variety of reasons.
So I know it is easy to fallaciously believe a "+" PO1 must be worn even more than a PO1 I'd argue it would be based on appearance within that grade.

🤪
With a gold bean! 😬
I will buy PCGS/NGC 69s in modern gold on or near spot. I will pay very little premium for a 70.
69+, ha!
69+ sounds like a gas grade - "I always get the +, makes my engine run smoother"
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Now I've seen everything, what a joke!
So just how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?

OH - it was "89 PLUS" in my gas tank ! Sorry , not 69+
