Local coin shows & B&M shop, EBAY and here on the BST. Depending on you dollar range & expertise, I'd stick with the top tier grading companies if buying on EBAY, many shady deals and poor photos.

Many coin dealers have a junk silver box/bucket in their shops that you can pull stuff to stack from.

There are about 250,000,000 Morgan dollars out there, so shouldn’t be a problem.

Personally (and no I have no affiliation) I like Northeast Numismatics, Profile Coins, DLRC and Great Collections for some fun Sunday night auction action.

i'm pretty sure it needs to be junk. it's just confusing that someone who is a stacker doesn't know already. that's why i asked about numis material

Can you spot counterfeits? If you can't then don't buy Morgan Dollars.

You could buy rolls from places like Apmex. I've never seen them sell a fake.

When something got me to decidiong that it was time to get back into coins some few years ago, I started with Morgan and peace dollars that a local brick-and-mortar coin shop had boxes of, for sale at little above silver melt value. Most Morgan and peace dollars are quite common, and high grade examples are easy to find, and not expensive (in the context of a hobby where people spend thousands of dollars on a single coin). I've bought a significant number of raw Morgans at Ray Komka Coins, and never been disappointed.

Eventually, of course, I wanted high-grade examples, and started buying certified coins. There are lots of reputable dealers. Among those that come to mind are Northern Nevada Coin and Northeast Numismatics. And the good auction houses (e.g., Great Collections, Heritage Auctions and David Lawrence Rare Coins) are excellent sources, if you're disciplined not to get caught up in the "competition" of bidding.

    Ali Express.

If you are a silver stacker you can buy culls at a coin shop. If you wish to be a collector, buy coins any place except flea markets and Ebay that are already graded by PCGS, ANACS, or NGC. Fake coins in fake slabs are out there so join a coin club and find out who the best dealers are in your area as a start.

How did you obtain the ones you already have?
As has already been pointed out, there are a multitude of places to obtain Morgan dollars. However, you didn’t specify condition, dates, value range of graded vs. ungraded examples.

I'm named "stacker" because I picked the name out of a hat. Although I'm new at the game Ive already spent about $15 K in the last 2 months on silver and gold. Yes I stack as a beginner because I have to make sense of it all financially but I dearly love coinage, historical coinage, numismatic coinage. I was a History major and know much about history but sadly little about coinage.

So I'm taking it slow and teaching myself numismatic. And Ive learned enough to know while there are good deals out there, as well, there are counterfeits and rip offs. Hence my question, to glean wisdom from you all who have been playing the game for years. And I love Morgans. Dont ask me why but I do love them especially.

Thanks for the tidbits of wisdom. I hope to add some historical treasure over the summer like Ive already added some Low Mint Libertards "I love them too". When I started stacking I didn't expect to love the coins and the history so much but I sit here all day at the computer learning and surfing them. They are magnificent aren't they ?

I bought a bunch of 1921's out of a grab bag, I forget where. Actually I bought a bunch from JBBullion. Nothing special but one in particular was in fine condition and i keep taking it out to ogle it. Theres nothing like a nice Morgan. I'd like to buy some historically significant ones. I'm not a world beater, just a beat up retiree that wants to own some History too.

Also I spend a small % on what I call art pieces. Germania mint work is one of my favorites so yes I have more then an interest in stacking weight.

I think you will find there are one or two (Or 1,000) options out there for you to aquire Morgan Dollars. i will comment more about how you might go about it.
One of the great things about Morgan dollars is that they have been studied exstensively.
If you go to a site like Wizard coin supply you will be able to get a book on them such as "A Buyers Guide to Silver Dollars & Trade Dollars" by Q. David Bowers. There are other books too but I find this one works best for a new collector. (Such as i was once).
You will discover that there are dozens of different ways to build a collection that will be both meaningful for you and also give you an idea how to buy safely and perhaps even profitably.
i wish you the best with your future endevours. James

Family Morgan Dollar and Morgan Dollar Tree sell them, too! 🤣😉

Do you want key dates or do you want generics? For key and semi-key dates; I suggest dealer websites. For generics, I would go to Auctions sites such as eBay, GC or HA, as the market will set the current price. Of course you can buy keys at the major auction sites, too, but just don’t get caught up in a bidding war!!!

I have found that, unlike certain other series, most Morgans can be found easily just as long as you have the funds readily available.

Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

One thing I have heard many times and I think most members would agree, buy the best that you can afford.
I suggest saving if that's what you have to do and then buying a nice graded Morgan.
I promise you that you will never regret it. If the day ever comes you no longer want to collect coins you should be able to recoup your money.
    Just a suggestion.

Morgans are great coins, buy what you can afford and enjoy it. The favorite coin in my collection is a 1883-O Morgan in fine. It was my big coin purchase I paid 5 or 6 dollars for it at a Flea Market when I was 11 or 12. Collecting should be fun.
