Question For the So-Called Dollar Guys.

I have two HK-479a So-Called Dollars. I just noticed that on one the dies are coin turned and the other one they are medal turned. Is this a known variation? In the references I have been able to check it is not mentioned.

That's an interesting discovery!
I unfortunately do not know the answer.

@MWallace, use the search feature at the top of the page, I’m pretty sure somebody started a SC$ error or variety thread. That’s how I view what you have, just a variety that probably doesn’t really add much value, if any. You also might see it mentioned in the Shevlin book about West Coast Exhibitions.

This actually tells me more about collectors then medals, we are a curious group fine-tuned to notice detail. I find myself looking at every “One Concept Dollar” hoping to find one with the wrong orientation.

I also discovered the 1995 Con$ept coin and medal turns. In 2001 I was looking at the several I had and noticed that one was medal turn and the others were coin turn.
