the dates are 3 inches tall thats pretty big

The 1960 small and large date are simply a change in the obverse die variety from ODV-022 (small date) to ODV-023 (large date. http://varietyvista.com/25 What Are Die Varieties/Lincoln Cent ODV Changes.htm
