The quarter is now properly attributed as the RPD FS-301 variety. Here is the True View photo of the coin. The repunched date (the two sevens) is clearly present in the photo.

The back story about this coin is a good one.

A few years ago my son and I took a road trip to Carson City. Upon arrival at our hotel we checked into our room. My son wanted to rest in the room and I wanted to go to the hotel casino.

While at the casino I was playing video poker, betting a dime per hand. I drew five cards and in the five were the 10, Jack, King and Ace of spades. I held these four cards and drew one card, which turned out to be the Queen of spades.

Jackpot, with bells, whistles and lights going off. :)

With my Royal Straight I won (on my dime bet) $410.00 (had I bet $1.00 I would have won $4,100.00). I told my son about my winning and he joined me at the video poker machines and played some. He did not win a jackpot.

Later on we toured the Carson City Mint and we stopped by Northern Nevada Coin. With my poker winnings in hand I had to buy a Carson City coin. I picked the 1877 CC EF35 quarter and bought it. I was not until after I returned home and spent time studying the coin that I realized it the RPD FS-301 variety. I recently submitted it for attribution and I am glad to see it in a holder with the correct label.
