I KNOW THERE IS A 1971-S (PEG LEG) FS-401 EISENHOWER FOR THE R OF LIBERTY, BUT COULD THIS 1972-S UNC EISENHOWER BE
A POLISHED DIE ON THE I & R OF LIBERTY ALSO?
KEN.

Compare yours to other 1972-s dollars and tell us what you see.

No problem - the point I was trying to make is that the polishing that created the1972-S peg leg (and other overpolished letters) was on the master die, which means that all 1972-S dollars have it.

Just for curiosity's sake, is this damage to the cellophane package or the coin?

I'd imagine that is on the packaging where the rim of the coin was pressed against it previously.
