OK, let’s try this one:

Grade + variety. Remember, per the OP’s guidelines, one guess per member per day.

MS63 1880 CC 8 over low 7

One correct grade answer but without the variety included. A couple correct variety guesses.
Apologies to all:
1) I didn’t anticipate the difficulty with the variety;
2) the pics weren’t the greatest.

But, they were enough to determine the correct variety. While the upper flag of the 7 on the obv was tough to see, the rev had the obvious indicator.
The 4 major 1880-CC varieties by # are the 4,5,6 & 7. The 4 & 7 were eliminated immediately as the eagle’s breast feathers are concave in the center (rev of 78). That left the 5&6 as the possibilities (rev of 79). On the VAM 6 rev, there are die chips in both of the C’s in “CC”. That left the VAM 5 as the correct answer. Verification is a small die line bar between the left end of the branch to the top of the upper feather end of the arrows. It would be distinct in a better pic but still was visible enough to see in the post.

Correct answer would either be VAM 5 or the commonly used 8/high 7.

Finally, when I’m up, I try not to post a “layup”. My bad on this one, though. I think better pics would definitely have been helpful!

It took while but I finally say the die gouge on the reverse. I had thought it was a low 7 at first. I could not clarify that the high 7 from the date. Also, the date position led me to the high 7.
