One more for the Griffey basic set. Up to 215/221. Taken years, but getting close. 97.29%, but as you registry builders know, the last few are left for a reason to two....
He pretty much won Game #3 of the 1978 World Series by himself. He made at least 4 great plays that saved the series for the Yankees. Yankees were down 2 games to 0 and if they had lost game 3 the series was most likely over.
What a lot of people don't know about Nettles is he was a bad ass. One of the toughest/fighters in the league at that time. He put Bill Spaceman Lee on the DL during a Yankee Red Sox brawl and also kicked the crap out of Reggie Jackson when Reggie played for the Yankees. His most famous fight was with George Brett in the AL playoffs when Brett slid into third base very hard.
A tough Boston Bruins season hasn't dampened my enjoyment from adding my 70th and 71st autographed Derek Sanderson cards along with 3 beautiful Bruins vintage Yearbooks.
I am very excited to share this recent acquisition of the most iconic player in MLB history, from one of the most iconic sets in baseball card history, during the Bambino’s playing days.
The card presents extremely well for the assigned grade with vivid (little toning), bold hues, centered very well L/R (approximately 55/45) , T/B ~80/20 and with very nice corners for the grade. Also….I was able to confirm thru Goldin Auctions that the card has no creases or wrinkles. Here is a 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #144 (full body pose) PSA-5…along with the 1927 photo of the Sultan of Swat used for the illustration.
I'm having to part with a 1956 Aaron PSA-8.5, a 1961 Aaron PSA-9, a 1966 Mays PSA-9, and a 1963 Banks PSA-9 to fund this purchase.

LCS pickup. Improves on my beat up copy from my childhood collection.
Very nice! I submitted one to SGC in 2013 and it came back 88/Nm-Mt. I knew the centering was a bit off L/R, but I thought the rest of the card made it a Mint candidate. Sold it and gave up the search....but after seeing yours , I may start looking again!
Beautiful Ruth. I cannot stop staring at it. That is on my someday list but no way I ever get one that looks like that. Congrats. I like this one better than the Mantle you bought last month!

Congrats. Fantastic acquisition and excellent card. As the auction houses say, the cornerstone of any great collection.
Can appreciate the sell a handful of cards to buy one cool card. Drove to the Philly Show yesterday to drop off 97 cards I would like to turn into one two three cards.
Have to say though viewing the early bids on Heritage it may not be an ideal time to get nice cards at a bargain price. Seeing stuff where it seems like the bids have passed recent high sales or maybe all-time highs with 20 days left to go. Seeing a card I sold in about 2019 for 700% higher. 😬 So may not be able to grab anything there. I suspect the dumpster fire of a stock market may have some rotating into high-end cards. Which I wouldn't mind doing if they dont start inflating too much.
Things are moving a little slowly at the moment for my 1971 OPC baseball set build. I'm happy to have just picked up this Baker/Baylor high number card with just a little crease/wrinkle on the right edge:

Were you happy with the 7 grade for Klu? Appears it could have been an 8.
This card has had quite a life. Years ago, I purchased it as an old SGC 88. I broke it out and sent it to PSA and it came back a PSA 4 which I couldn't believe. I finally broke it out again just recently and it came back an SGC 7. I agree that it should be an 8 but I am done cracking this card out. lol

Awesome pickup Monte and that is a great example - bold colors on that one for sure. Owned one about 8 years ago, and almost picked one up at the National last summer - definitely on my short list of cards to add in the near future along with a couple of Mantles and a couple of Nolan Ryan’s.
Thanks. I love the colored borders and the fact that that Hall Of Famers can be picked up for under $30 in PSA 10 they are a good bargain for the unrestricted set at an affordable price.

kinda early for May...🤣😂🙃
Cool O. J. 🏈🏈🏈
Oops. Corrected.
Some Canadian content from a recent sub. Maddux is obviously mislabeled:
@80sOPC Nice. The 79 Brett really stands out as a nice example.
@bgr agreed, definitely the best of the bunch.
Recent eBay buy. Considering its 115 years old, I can live with the crease.
Favorite player as a kid.

Just a few random ones to start off March...

Here are a couple for my " Poor but Mighty HOF set and a Pop-1 for my 1994 Topps Gold set

Another shiny card from 1994 rolled in today
Finally got a card in which the player has bigger arms than me.

A tough Boston Bruins season hasn't dampened my enjoyment from adding my 70th and 71st autographed Derek Sanderson cards along with 3 beautiful Bruins vintage Yearbooks.
LCS pickup. Improves on my beat up copy from my childhood collection.
Gambling on a big year, playing for that 600M contract. For Vlad that is, not expecting much volatility out of Sewer Sue and Furry Fran.
The '52 card of Mr. Simpson has notorious centering issues. Recent pickup not perfect but I approve.
Also grabbed this '67 Hank this week. Picked up for the centering.
That's a sweet 4!
The aaron looks more like a 6 to me.
A few came in today .

Nothing special but it's some of the cards I collect .
Picked up this nice Doby. I think he is under appreciated. Breaking the color barrier in the AL, he faced everything Jackie did without the fanfare.
Found some 90s goodness. 1991 OPC BB x7 and some random 1992 packs + 93 parkhurst hky

Here are a couple of items I just had graded.

Love the Klu! I was always a big fan of his with the Redlegs!
Were you happy with the 7 grade for Klu? Appears it could have been an 8.
A Red Sox legend & prospect.

Agree that the Klu looks better than a 7...

Jose Cruz!
the panel is great! Did that come from the Topps Vault?
I love rough cuts and this card is so sharp as well.

Late 60's and early to mid 70's non-sports
Thank you. Yes, it did. I still have the Topps Vault certificate.
Picked up a few more for the Hall Of Fame Set...

love the Jurgensen
