PGCS Cert app not scanning bar code

I purchased two PCGS-slabbed coins. Both were slabbed around 2010, so long before PCGS added NFC chips to the slabs.
The PCGS Cert app on my iPhone will not scan the barcodes on the PCGS slab labels. Neither will the PCGS CoinFacts app. Neither will the standard iPhone Camera and QR reader apps. I can, however, type the certification numbers into the PCGS Cert app, and the app brings up the correct coins.
To the naked eye, the barcodes on the slab labels look clean. Should I be concerned that the barcodes on the slab labels cannot be scanned?

Turn them upside down and scan. They usually scan easier.
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
That worked! Thank you.
I’ve got a newer slab (2-3 yrs old) that has a working NFC chip, but the barcode is completely un-scannable. So it’s possible everything’s fine and there’s no cause for concern with your coins.
Still, in your place, I’d probably be checking auction archives to see if there are any photos from past sales, and if so, how well those photos match the coins in your hands.
FYI that I followed your advice and searched for the PCGS certificate numbers on the Heritage Auctions, Great Collections Auctions, and Stacks Bowers websites (and also on Ebay). There were no hits. But now that I know that turning the slabs upside down makes the bar codes readable, I guess I'm ok. Thanks for the advice though.
Glad everything worked out. I had no idea about the scanning upside down trick, so thanks for that tip, @privatecoin.
mostly cert numbers do not appear in auction text
you would search by type, date, grader, grade, additional designation (dcam??), etc. and hopefully you find a photo of your coin in the auction records
