Morgan CC

I won this Morgan in an auction and like most in Europe it’s not graded.
…paid € 260,- do you think it was to much for the condition?
What grade would it get?

Thank you for your assessment in advance!

XF Harshly Cleaned. Retail...I dunno, $200?

XF-AU but very harshly cleaned, tough to value details coins as it really depends on the buyer. As a buyer I would not be interesting in paying over melt value for a coin this harshly cleaned, although I'm sure there are buyers at higher levels, just not I.

Yes, you overpaid, in my opinion. Retail is probably $100-150 at most due to the damage from cleaning.

Heritage auctioned four XF details, cleaned examples in the past few months for between $159 and $216. However, an XF details, harshly cleaned one sold for $264 in the same time period.

Appears to be a spitting eagle, and while this variety is not scarce by any means, people prefer it as it is a top 100 VAM. You won’t get your $280USD back. If it was in an anacs details holder as a VAM 3 you could expect around $200.
