Was able to view and hold the King of Siam Set at Superior's "Father Flanagan's Boys Home Sale" in May 1990. The set is now in the incredible Tyrant Collection.

    WOW, great Numismatic experience

This was so cool when it first came out. It was the first I can remember that had a rev proof!

    I have nice U.S. proof sets from 1936 - 1942. It’s tough to pick a favorite, but here’s a hotlink to my 1937 set, currently ranked #3:

Production was the lowest of any subsequent year.

I like the look of 1950 proof sets as it isn't fully brilliant that it seems fake like today's sets and isn't completely satiny. Just the right milky mix. But to the production figures, I wonder if by the end of this century a 21st century regular proof set will have 1950 beat as the lower mintage set.

Second lowest mintage of the series with only 590 proof sets struck at the Philadelphia Mint.

  • Can't beat this.

I also like this toned birth year proof set (with a Type 1 and a Type 2 half dollar). The nickel looks much better in hand than it does in the low quality Trueview.
