Indian Head Cent NEWP! 1909 P

ashelandasheland Posts: 23,445 ✭✭✭✭✭

I haven’t bought an Indian head cent in a while.
I know this is nothing earth shattering, but it was just pleasant enough that I couldn’t resist it.

I normally want holders 10 years old + for fully red copper, but this one, from my guess is about 7 to 9 years old and it’s still completely bright red. I think it’s stable. I went ahead and bought it…

I really prefer to get these later dates in higher grade than this but again it was just a really nice example…

What do you guys think?

And the holder came out of a little hoard that was graded somewhere between 2015 and 2018 they had been in the slab box the whole time, the slab is virtually brand new. Which is always a concern. I hate scratched up holders!

The TrueView is good but a lot darker than the coin is in-hand. That was also a consideration, everything on the true view was the same on the coin. Nothing had gotten darker… If anything, the coin looks lighter than the original TrueView, again, making me feel good about the stability of the red copper…

Really like the look and color of that 1909. It’s bright with nice luster. I like it. Nice pickup Terry. Zack.

It’s a nice one Terry + I like your parameters! But, have you abandoned your old Never~Ending~Indian~Cent thread? Just posted another one there today. No worries - I’ll keep that one going!

Oh yes, indeed! I planned to post it in there, but I wanted to make it’s own thread first….

I agree! I like a nice looking scratch free holder too.

I have a low tolerance for scratches, but if it’s an older slab, I will leave it be…
