Help with another old coin

I know nothing about this coin, I’m hoping that someone could help me out with any info. It looks like someone used it as a button or something

Whatever the cause or whatever it was used for, it is just a damaged coin now.
Hard to say exactly what it was used for.

Unfortunately, due to the damage, this coin is worth very little. Looks like it may have come out of the ground.

Got it, thank you. I’ll keep it for the cool factor

    I agree - likely a button.

These sorts of modified old coins do have a slight value. No idea how much, and certainly less than an unalteted coin, but there are people who collect this type of thing.

Well it's either and old large cent or a half cent. Can't make out the date. Can you measure the diameter?

It's an 1812 large cent. I doubt it was used as a button, but who knows.
