Philly Coin Expo is on! May 9-10. Who's going? FREE admission with photo of QR code in post.

****
The Philly Coin Expo is back. Scheduled May 9-10. Show hours 10am - 5 pm. Located in Oaks, Pa just off I-76 (Valley Forge area). This was the best and most productive show I ever set up at before retirement. Great location. Easy to get to. Great security inside AND in the parking lot. FREE parking, and lots of it! Always a great turn-out. The first show I was ever at where the promoter walked around asking how things were going. Someone who really cares! Oh, and the free bagels and donuts were an added bonus! This is quickly becoming a great regional show! Who's in?

Too far for me.

Bad timing, I live 15 minutes away, but I'll be away.
Scarsdale Coin will be set up there.
With lots of candy
Here is the new lay out. We’ve added 20 tables and will be open to the public for 2 full days (10am-5pm)
Looks like a nice sized show.
I'm planning on Friday. Thanks for the heads up. Peace Roy

How much is the show fee?
With free bagels and donuts plus silver liberty bells I would be surprised to see the show not charging a fee.
The coffee and donuts are provided in the morning for dealers. Any left over usually get snagged up by the first few in the doors. I’ll include a pic of the liberty bells.

They are part of the hourly door prize drawing. It is $5 to get in (veterans and children are free) you can buy as many entries as you like 👍 we also run a 50/50 last year the pay out was hefty $$$$!
Do the free admissions qualify for the drawings or do only the paid admissions qualify?
Yes, free admission is included in the door prize drawing. Make sure you receive a ticket upon entering.
Entry tickets are numbered. (For the drawing)
That Liberty Bell holder with the silver eagle looks awesome! A class act! Also, like the way you integrated the additional tables in the room layout.
I will be there on Saturday. I found a really nice half cent last year, and hopefully, I will find one again.
I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
I had somebody ask me if the show was in Phila proper (Convention Center). Thankfully no. The Phila Expo Center is west of the city near Valley Forge, in Oaks, PA. But I can understand the confusion.
Yup, it's outside the city, and right off the Pa turnpike exit. Large venue with a huge parking lot. No congestion. I'm going on Friday. Peace Roy

I attended last year, promoter was a hell of a nice guy, and my buddy bought some rounds from him at good price. Everything he claims about the show is true and then some I am down and and out with leg issues but hope to make it on Friday to avoid weekend crowd
Wish I could go (right around where I grew up), but I have a full dance card of shows for this year and the committed Denver one is too close.
I had an interesting conversation related to this thread, regarding the cost of parking at shows. I know that there was a recent thread where the issue was the cost of parking. I believe it was a $15 parking fee. In my conversation, it was brought up that parking in one city was as high as $55. Can this be true? Then, looking back to the last trip to Baltimore in 2016, I paid $28 for a spot that you needed a can opener to get in and out of the car. Just one more reason why I like this show. FREE parking and roomy spots. No can opener needed!
My wife and I are retired and go on vacations around coin shows (FUN, Atlanta-ANA, and more). What shows that you have been to are worth traveling to?
I almost forgot !!!

Any time one can save on these expenses means more money to spend on coins.
So there is sales tax on bullion??

Exemption for Sales of Certain Investment Bullion and Investment Coins
P.L. 2024, c. 64 amends N.J.S.A. 54:32B-8.32 to exempt sales of qualifying investment metal bullion and investment coins beginning on and after January 1, 2025.
“Investment metal bullion” means any elementary precious metal that has been put through a process of smelting or refining, including, but not limited to: gold, silver, platinum, and palladium, and that is in such a state or condition that its value depends upon its contents and not its form. “Investment metal bullion” does not include any precious metal that has been assembled, fabricated, manufactured, or processed in one or more specific and customary industrial, professional, aesthetic, or artistic uses.
“Investment coin” means any numismatic coin manufactured of gold, silver, platinum, palladium, or any other metal, including non-precious metals, and having a fair market value of not less than $1,000. In order to be exempt, the individual coin must have a fair market value of not less than $1,000. “Investment coin” does not include jewelry or works of art made of coins, nor does it include commemorative medallions.
Note that the $1,000 fair market value requirement does not apply to investment metal bullion.
A copy of the public law can be found at: P.L. 2024, c. 64.
In answer to your question - "no" as of 01/01/2025. Great, isn't it? (For NJ)
For PA, see below.
And for PA.....

In Pennsylvania, sales tax is generally exempt on the purchase of bullion and investment coins, provided their value derives from their precious metal content and not from their form or rarity, but not on copper products or coins that are not legal tender.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Exemptions:
Bullion and Investment Coins: Standard gold and silver bars, and coins like the Maple Leaf, Gold and Silver Panda, US Eagle, Perth Mint Lunar Series, and Silver Britannia are exempt from sales tax.
Legal Tender: Bullion coins that are, or have ever been, considered legal tender in a sovereign country are not subject to sales tax.
Taxable Items:
Copper Products: Products made primarily using copper bullion are considered taxable, regardless of purity, size, or monetary amount.
Coins Not Legal Tender: Coins that are not currently, or were not previously, used as legal tender in the United States or any foreign country are taxable.
Medallions and Tokens: Medals, tokens, and paper money are not exempt from sales tax.
Prior to Jan 1st of this year, if you lived in NJ where bullion was taxable, but purchased in PA (no tax), you still had to pay sales/use tax on your yearly tax return. Not any more!
I always recommend the big ones. January FUN, Summer ANA World's Fair of Money (August, in OKC this year), Central States (April). The ANA National Money Show is hit or miss. Two regional ones I do like are Tukwila (Seattle), which I will miss setting up both times this year, and Denver. I had not set up at Baltimore in many years but decided this time to do it. That's next week. I do not know how it is anymore. The Inner Harbor is nice, but there is a lot to be desired regarding the neighborhood otherwise. (I might walk to Edgar Allen Poe's grave this time. I forgot the last time I was in Baltimore. Might need to organize a party to go depending on the local crime issues.)
