Bought a couple rolls from my local Publix for the heck of it, and I'm super glad I did! 1923 buffalo also found a few 2004's and a 1957-D

I remember getting bags ( $200 ) of nickels in the early 1960's. There were always dozens of buffalos in each bag.
Quite the feat considering the coin is over 100 years old and the design has been out of production for 86 years plus.

An old Buffalo nickel collector culled one from his herd for another to find, this one with a clearly readable date.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was stolen from some coin collection and then spent by the thief. It may have been a kid getting into their dad's coin stash or a home robbery. There's no way that coin was in circulation for over a century.
