I’m sure that someone did do that. No way did that coin naturally wear down like that from circulation in only 26+ years.

Yup. That was probably someone's pocket piece for many years. I don't know of any way to wear down a coin to a Poor or Fair grade artificially with it still looking like natural wear like this one has. It's always interesting to see what a coin looks like in a near terminal state of wear.

Well done! Quite an achievement. I carried a $10 gold Indian around in my pocket for a year with nary a scratch or visible wear. This eaglet, on the other hand, would take a private toll:

How much actual metal content is lost with poor 1 examples? Did anyone ever notice metal dust with well worn coins?

I would not wear down a classic gold coin even to attain a F2 or P1 grade, just me, to each their own.

If it were really harshly cleaned or had extremely ugly surfaces, you could improve it's appearance with wear.

There isn’t a lowball year set for $10 Indians in the lowball registry so I have mine in the regular set part. I’m in 59th without the PO01 entered I have 10 of the 15. This has been another fun set to work on.

Not having a motto would have helped had it not been. Good thing they weren't made at branch mints, though. Cool piece!

Actually, the No Motto Indian gold $10 was made at the Denver Mint in 1908.

I was (unclearly) referring to 1907. Good thing that date wasn't made at branch mints.
