Fun Coin show did NOTset the parking fee and NOT getting any revenue from parking fee that is charged by convention center. The regular rate was increased by $3.00 charged at 2024 Summer Fun. Guess the $10.00 show rateis now a thing of the past.

Guess FUN was unable to obtain the discounted rate as in previous years. :D

You’re getting a deal at $21.50…..wait until you see the price to park at next year’s FUN.

Wages are up substantially. Just change jobs and you’ll see.

They learned from NYC and are now practicing "congestion parking"

Tampa Convention Center Daily Parking in the covered parking garage is $15. Take the show back to Tampa!

For the folks that do not understand the gripe:
    1. $10 for mannnny years and now more than doubled for no added benefit and it's not like there is a shortage of parking spots.
    2. When I paid for parking, I asked the money-taking-attendant, that seemed to be doing their job poorly, which concourse the FUN show was in and I was told South Concourse. For $21.50 I would think the attendant could tell me the right place to park. For $21.50, is that so much to ask? No FUN Show organizers or those at the venue understands how this relates to security?
    3. To add additional confusion, the FUN Show Organizers coordinated with or allowed the venue to hang the FUN Show banner on South Concourse wall of the building that faces the South Concourse parking lot.
    4. The concourse is not listed on the home page of the FUN website along with all the other basic information like venue and address. As part of the address, why is North Concourse not mentioned? After I parked, I walked into the South Concourse, walked the entire length of it and did not see the FUN Show. I walked half way back along the concourse while looking for an employee to ask where the show was. There were no signs about FUN or what was being hosted in the different concourses. I found an employee and she told me it was in the North Concourse, that I needed to turn around, walk to the end of the South Concourse again, turn right, go outside and walk the entire length of the building (half mile?) to the North Concourse. Sure, I could have walked a quarter mile back to my car, driven to the North Concourse to park, walk in the building and do it that way but chose not to. It would have taken just about as long.
    5. Doubling the cost to park for no added benefit, contributing to security risks, possibly causing people to walk a mile with their stuff before they even get to the show demonstrates poor customer service at minimum.
    6. Down here in central Florida, had we always been used to parking our cars for $60, $75, $100 or whatever seems to be common up north then that would be one thing but that is not the case here. The cost to park a darn car more than doubled.
    7. The FUN Show website is very disingenuous when it comes to stating that entry is free. If you are not staying at a hotel across the street from the convention center (getting a free shuttle, or walking the long distance), entry is NOT FREE...you will likely be paying to park. $10 is one thing but $21.50 is quite the rip off. Please do not say entry is free. It's not even close.

Just because I can afford to pay to park my car, does not make this okay. Poor communication by FUN on the home page of their website, poor placement of the banner on the building making you think you were in the right place, time wasting by the venue and FUN, potentially contributing to security problems by FUN and the venue...all are bad.

As I said before, I am glad I packed my lunch for the day so I could avoid that fee.

Let's get this thing back in Tampa.

Its not the absolute dollar cost but the value of the purchase that annoys folks. When I can buy a case of water for $0.10 a bottle that the airport wants $4-5, that is what irks me.

You're not paying for the water.... you're paying for the location, the ambience, the expenses of having the airport, etc.

Back around 1990 I used to go to a large antique show in an armory on Eight Mile Road in Detroit. Parking was free ... until the management sold parking rights for shows held there to an outside company. I recall driving into the parking lot and being told that it would cost $7 to park. I immediately turned the car around and left. I never attended the show again.

    All glory is fleeting.

    Keyman64:

If you looked on the fun website it mentioned the show was held in the north hall (here’s the screenshot of the info)

  • 1madman1madman Posts: 1,496 ✭✭✭✭✭

The only gripe I had was actually with the county for having universal blvd shut down, and couldn’t exit off the 528 to make for a speedy in/out in the north lot. Had to pull in the south lot parking from i-drive and cruise through there up to the north lot from there.

Trust me, we do not want this show back in Tampa. It’s a gift having this show in Orlando

I should have posted "just about everything" I would imagine there are exceptions.

The show organizers probably could use some help with website design, but the parking fee and bourse location are posted on their website.

That said, a price increase like that can be upsetting. I would say that as a whole though, the FUN show provides great value and great opportunity for the participants. And if you’re close enough that driving makes sense, consider yourself lucky that you don’t have to pay for a round trip airline ticket to attend.

Trust me when I say a 20-25min drive is much better than a 2.5hour drive. ;) Covered and cheaper parking with video surveillance is better. There’s also built in clarity for the event location at the venue.

Real estate is very expensive, here in Boston we are building a 5,000-lot parking area for $5 Million Dollars!!!
    $100,000 per space?

But I do agree there should be some 'advance notice' of the price and other options available>

That is 'estimated' construction cost............Government [MASSPORT] operational expenses will multiply that by at least 200%

And they'll make 10X that cost in revenue in the first year alone.
