I hope all forum members that read this will take a mere moment to offer their prayers for all these folks whose lives are in danger from these deadly fast moving fires. Please.

Did you say beyond solving the problem? Sir- If you're not a part of the solution, you are the problem!

I think his point is that when your neighborhood is on fire, it's a little too late to change your forest management to "solve the problem".

I'm with you, I have a few family members literally running for their lives in the Pacific Palisades. This thread will be deleted as it has nothing to do with coins, just raw emotions. There are tons of social media sites to express your concerns.

The problem is not fixable. Dry seasons are getting longer every year. Wildfire season used to be manageable and stop in the fall. Regardless of causes or human intervention or whatever, the climate has changed and is making this get progressively worse. As a human race across the world, we have demonstrated we are either not able or not willing to fix the problem so we have to deal with it.

Or, if you meant put out the fires, they can't. All of Southern California is a tinderbox and the winds are so high the fire planes can't fly and the fire is spreading uncontainably.

Hopefully this was emotion free enough. Nobody can solve the problem. That's a fact.

He didn't really make any points. He expressed his anger that nobody was fixing the problem. Then he expressed his anger that "this" should have never happened in the first place.

I was waiting to hear what "this" was. I don't know if he meant climate change, fire as a concept, poor fire prevention, inadequate fire fighting, or something else entirely.

I grew up in the Palisades in the 60's and 70's...It was a paradise. I think my elementary school burned down yesterday. Very sad. No words. So sorry for all those folks that have to endure this. :'(

this hearkens back to some of the last few really political threads

while stuff is burning, can we focus on the well being of our area forumites?

I have a number of friends in the area who have lost their property, many memories gone. Church , school, businesses. All are ok thank God. Prayers are in order.

They had a similar fire to this in the Oakland Hills in 1991 that forced many to rebuild with fireproof homes. I feel bad for everyone who lost property in this.

I had a few people reach out to me. We had to evacuate last night but are back now. The Fire Dept did an outstanding job putting out the Sunswept Fire ( we live on that street). They dropped water by chopper and were so prepared. Could have been a total wipe out in the Hills. Can't say enough about the response.

It’s crazy how much distraction the fire had caused. 1000+ homes burned, 30,000+ residents displaced. Pray this fire ends soon so they can rebuild.

Growing up in Altadena near the Eaton fire we had wildfires every few years. Then mudslides. Santa Ana winds uprooting trees was also pretty common. Put the winds and fires together and the area I grew up is leveled. Hope that all that are still there near the fires are ok. I know several friends and family members of mine were evacuated. At least one lost their home.

It’s just horrifying.
I grew up not far to very far from there and have memories of being on our roof hosing it down as a kid!
Fires in the hills above Malibu were not all that uncommon, but this is on another level entirely.
Multiple fires in January…. 75+ mph winds, less than a quarter of an inch of rain since last spring.
Our son lives in Hollywood has has been close to having to evacuate a couple of times already.
My cousin and his kid and grandkids have been back and forth seeking safety over the past days and are currently on the go to Newport Beach- further south.
Condolences to all nearby, prayers and safe travels and best wishes Mark.

Prayers for those people that have lost everything. Homes can be replaced, but the memories and personal items acquired over a life time, photos, family heirlooms etc. sadly are lost forever.
