1975 Orion Socks Johnny Bench - newly graded

Last month, I picked this up at the annual Moeller High School card show in Cincinnati, OH. It's extremely scarce and not listed in any guide that I know of. There is also John Havlicek sticker that was produced. I didn't bother sending it to PSA for grading since it is not listed in a guide. However, I was very surprised to see that SGC had graded one of these before (an SGC 2). I just got the results for mine after sending it to SGC and it graded a 5 which I am very happy with.

  • Very nice! I have been trying to get PSA to grade mine with no luck. I guess it is off to SGC. Thanks for sharing!

Very welcome. There are few other cards that SGC will grade for the Bench collection that PSA will not including the 1968-70 Shillito's and the 1970's Home Plate Restaurant postcard.

That is a great card! I hope we can start adding SGC cards to the registry soon. I imagine that has to be something on the table for 2025?

Great item. This kind of thing is usually so under-appreciated because most people have no idea they even exist, let alone how hard it would be to find one if you learned and then wanted one

I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.
