USPS and registered mail times

I think I've been pretty lucky, lately.
Not sure if others are as well.
2 different registered packages, even though only sent a couple states away, were done quickly.
One went to PCGS and was Friday-Tuesday and the other also went to CA and was Thurs-Tues
The 2nd one sat in a post office some of Sunday and all of Monday without moving, but, considering what registered mail actually is, that can happen.
I know that, in the past, some folks said it would take them 10+ days for registered. I kind of expected it to move more slowly than it did, just because of the time of year right now.
Not sure how others have been fairing, if using registered mail....

Depends what hub the package goes through. Anywhere from 5 days to 14 days for the 10 registered packages I have sent and received in last two months. A current one has sat for 4 days without moving. The prior one to that sat for a week.

It wouldn't surprise me if the increased mail volume around the holidays led to a shortening of delivery times for registered mail, at least temporally. Delivery times are always rather volatile so I'm not sure what we can learn from a few packages. I sent one this week... time will tell.
Most of the registered packages coming to me lately have taken at least 2 weeks - they go through multiple distribution centers and sit at each for a while. Just part of deal and they always make it safely. OTH, I send out a Priority Mail package Monday evening and tracking says it will be delivered tomorrow!
I document the stuff fairly accurately.
My last SLC to Bedminster, NJ package went into the USPS system here in UT on November 23 and was received in NJ on December 4th. That DID include Thanksgiving, but was 12 days. I just expect it now. I have had packages on the same route take 3 days, but that was several years ago. And yes . . . it sat in one spot for 5 business days.
I do feel secure when I send Registered. Only responded as a data point, not a serious complaint.

Many of my coins shipped registered have seen that long stop in DC….. Must be a major hub and overwhelmed……...
Sounds like west coast does a tad better than east coast...

I am on Day 6 in Norfolk VA. Packages coming and going to CACG all stop there for me and stay for a week. Must be a nice post office.

Delays seem to be localized; in my town there has been a large influx of new people in the last few years so the post office has trouble processing the daily shipments especially this time of year; some of the people come in unreasonably expecting the usps employees to fill out things and package things for them! I've been going to neighboring towns to ship things, and unfortunately had an employee go "postal" on me; the usps system has an online report system for situations like this.
I sent a USPS registered mail package of coins to Gerry Fortin Rare coins last year. Value was in the $6K+ range so not much compared to many others. The package took over 6 weeks to be delivered and ended up traveling more than 12,000 miles in its journey. It took multiple calls and emails to the post master general to get the package to arrive safely with Gerry. To say the process was a nightmare would be an understatement.
Edit: Sorry, I got ahead of myself and just realized it's still 2024. The package in question was this year, in July specifically.
There is a registered mail "black hole" that packages can fall into and languish for days and weeks. But yeah, 1-2 weeks is pretty good for that service.

Not coins, but my carrier plucked 2 FC packages from my mailbox on Monday. One going to TX the other to PA. Both got delivered today. The USPS has been VERY VERY GOOD TO ME!
