Question re. Coinmaster Album Archival Quality?

I got a nice “United States type set collection” brown coinMaster album, which I think was made by Harco. Traditionally, coins in such brown albums that have come to me have had green crud on them and were problem children. This particular album has hard plastic sleeves and I don’t see any nasty chemicals leaking out or damage to the Coins.




en the plastic is softer. Please advise!

    @Numismaphile Welcome. Having pulled coins out of many pages of this type and brand, I have found pvc residue of varying degrees. In my experience, pvc off gassing is triggered by storage conditions and metal contact to the plastic itself. IMHO.
    To test if a plastic is PVC, you can perform a burn test by carefully igniting a small sample and observing the flame color, smoke characteristics, and smell produced, as PVC typically burns with a yellow flame, black smoke, and a pungent, acrid odor; you can also check for the recycling symbol "3" on the plastic.     When you see round circles where coins have been, you have potential PVC problems. I would get those coins out of there with a rinse in acetone before putting somewhere else.

    @Numismaphile - Most of these albums with coins I've seen over the years look like a total mess! Yours looks really good!... Neat and clean! 👍
