I think low gold is rare not because they didn’t circulate but because banks pulled them out aggressively if they appeared worn. The ones left stayed in commercial channels and were out away.
It’s the same reason the attrition for many dates is so high if they entered commerce opposed to store of value in vaults.

Sorry for the bad quality, but I haven't seen any early gold yet, so here is mine, it's a crop of a bigger picture. I'm trying to do a type set with a cost cap per coin and this holds down the fort for that early type, hope you like!
