Milton shredded the roof. The Fiberglass that wasn't blown across the city, is littered on the field

    Apparently Fiberglass does not do so well in Tropical Wind (Florida), Icy Wind (Michigan) or Snow (Michigan). Guess it should be billed as the perfect roof only if you have perfect weather...

    Hardly anyone attended games there anyways. Even in the best of times. The locals hate that place. They want a new stadium. Now, their team will need to relocate for awhile.

    holy cow. I heard it had happened, hadnt seen the photos. too bad they will have to repair it. I had heard they were getting a new stadium in 2028?

    I'm sure it's just a coincidence that this Tropicana stadium just got badly damaged, and the Tropicana Casino in Vegas just got demolished.

    In the grand scheme of things of people losing their houses and stuff it really doesnt matter.

    That said it will be interesting to see how this impacts Tampas efforts for a new stadium going forward now that significant money will need to be spent to repair this one.

    And that was the first test that stadium experienced, the Tampa area hasn't had a direct hit since 1921. And technically this wasn't even a direct hit but the closest they have had in 103 years. As a Floridian you know every year your area could get the big one but for whatever reason (pure luck) Tampa has avoided the big one year after year, no rhyme or reason to it.

    This was less than 2 miles from my house in a brand-new development called Avenir. F3 tornado spawned from Milton took a 40-mile path of destruction beginning in Broward County to my south and up into Palm Beach County. Me and my wife saw the monster tornado from our house less than a half mile west of us and tracking north toward the Avenir development where that picture was taken. A 2-ton industrial dumpster tossed up like a toy into that roof.

    I'll bitch and complain that there's a loose shingle on the garage roof...

    It sounds like that material does not age well. The stadium was actually designed to withstand the winds that it got, but that was with new roof material. As it ages, it weakens, and gets torn easier. This roof was about 10 years older than the design planned for.

    I guess I need to stop complaining when we get a couple of feet of snow during the winter. that is small potatoes compared to this.
