1919 woody

So I assume this coin would grade pretty high. But I showed it to two dealers. One said woody’s have no extra value as they are not recognized and said it’s worth 5 bucks. The other said eye appeal can make it worth a bunch especially as he thought it was a high grade coin and it could be worth a lot. . Every time I try to learn and show things to “experts” I get such varying opinions. I’m lost. lol.

    Both of them are correct.

If the second one was making a serious offer of $5, take it.

Always nice to see them with original mint luster.

The coin looks MS and looks RB. It is worth more than the $5 estimate, based simply upon the images supplied in the first post, but I don't think it is all that high a grade and isn't worth tons of money. My guess, again based upon the few images in the first post, is MS64RB.

That’s where I’m getting confused. First coin dealer said it’s AU. Second one said it’s very very nice and possibly could grade ms66 and with the added eye appeal it’s a special coin. Im not saying it is or isn’t and Im not super concerned with monetary value as this is just a fun thing. Im just trying to understand what’s what. I inherited a large collection of coins and talking with “experts” has been unbelievably confusing. I was offered 1800 for my Morgan collection by a shop, then 8500 by another shop. Same with this coin. Two wildly different opinions. Here are a couple close ups

I really like the coin. I'm guessing 64RB or 64BN.

FWIW: Not sure why, but this date/MM often comes exceptionally well struck with clean surfaces.

Nice looking cent and your photos are good.
I'd value it at $25.00, raw.

I'm in the AU camp. And MS-66 is laughable based on those pics.

Looking more closely at recent eBay sales, braddick's $25 estimate could be reasonable. Here's one that looks nicer to me, and sold for $15: https://www.ebay.com/itm/145985130818

If you have two shops that consistently offer wildly different prices, you know for sure where not to sell your coins.

The latest pictures show < shaped hits on the side of Lincoln’s forehead and also another mark on Lincoln’s cheek. Those bring the grade down quite a bit. In the first pictures I can’t see those. So I don’t think it’s a 66 for sure, but not sure har far down those marks would lower the grade

I think the hit to the forehead is gonna hold it back. Otherwise it's very nice as an AU. IMO. Good luck

If a dealer offered you 8500 for your Morgan’s, then they need to be sent off for grading as they could be worth a lot more. Sorry for your loss.
