Tua should retire. Right?
His third diagnosed concussion in the NFL in just 2 years. looked pretty bad. I think he needs to retire. his body has gone into the fencing posture 2 times now.
what good is $200MM if your brain is permanently injured? Just a terrible position to be in. I feel for the guy.

Tough to say he shouldn't, it's a shame because he is so young and he pretty much went through all.last season just fine.
His family and people that genuinely care about him should do their best to persuade him to step away, but ultimately it's his decision through his own free will

I heard that his mother asked him to consider retirement after the 2022 season. I would imagine she will redouble her efforts at this point.
I dont know if it is or should be Tuas decision though. I know in combat sports that athletes have to get medically cleared to fight. should it be that way in the NFL?

He would definitely have to be medically cleared to play but the issue is that he would be probably cleared to play eventually but that isn't what is the problem, the problem is the unknown long term effects these concussions might have on him especially if he gets another

i saw the game last night and when Tua went into a fencing response I immediately stopped watching. i couldnt take that spectacle again. it's well past time for him to take his millions and head to the Hawaiian islands before his brain disintegrates while he's still alive. he owes no one anything; the NFL will sleep like a baby once his playing days are over and he cognitively rots. he owes it to himself and anyone close to him to flash the deuces and walk off into the sunset

Tua just ran into somebody headfirst , he misjudged where the 1st down marker was
he wasn't forced to take a vax against his will to play a game , well ok he was probably forced to , but i doubt that is relevant here0 -

I have heard that each concussion requires less of an impact to happen. IE. the 3rd concussion took less of a hit than the 2nd. the 4th took less than the 3rd etc.

I think eventually if not sooner the NFL could institute an exempt list for guys with a certain amount of concussions or amount of certain grade concussions, I'm not exactly sure of the correct terminology
The Players union would want some protective language as far as compensation goes I'd think but it would be a bad look for the players if they fought it

I don't think I've ever seen a qb intentionally lead with his head, always sliding feet first to avoid what happened to Tua. Its kinda obvious that they way we're made, and impact with the head resulting in a twist or turn could have paralyzing results. He obviously had the opportunity to slide, but for whatever reason chose not to.
Darryl Stingley (Patriots) hit by Jack Tatum spent half his life paralyzed and died at 55. It only takes one bad hit.

The NFL isnt going to stop him from playing, they only care that he makes him money. Now they even have the excuse that he could of chosen to wear the helmet cap if he wanted too. Theres not any evidence that those things actually make a difference but the theory makes sense. Theres also people though that say it makes it more dangerous because guys get a false sense of security and end up taking more hits to the head.
Like heat stroke it is true about concussions. The more times it happens the easier the next time is.

Theyd have to fight it. Teams would be able to use it as an excuse to cut guys and get out of their guaranteed money and theres no way the owners would agree to pay someone they dont have too. The NFL players union is one of the weaker ones as well, they dont have the power to force it and to many players start going broke very quickly during a strike. The NFL has the highest percentage of players that file for bankruptcy or end up poor after retirement

He owes it to his wife/children to strongly consider retirement. To maintain his wits. So he can enjoy life, but moreso so his wife/children can enjoy his life. And not of a life with a slow deterioration of his being on view to them.

I think there are several keys here:
1) He is 26 years old - how many concussions do you think he has really had in his life?
2) Already having several diagnosed ones he should have been wearing a guardian cap (even my 17 said this)2 -
I agree @VikingDude there is little doubt Tua has been concussed more than 3 times. 2 years ago one of the concussions was actually called a "back injury" it was the one where he got up and wobbled until the OL grabbed him and helped him to the sidelines. That was certainly a concussion hidden by the staff. then you have college, high school etc.

Not my place to decide his career but hell yes he should walk away!! I hope his mother steps in and ends this. Next one may be permanent debilitating.

Alabama literally developed a new type of surgery to fix his ankle when he injured it. His college career also ended with a fractured dislocated hip but Miami drafted him anyways.

He has 124 million reasons not to retire.
His decision to try and run over the defender was really dumb though, especially given his concussion history. Folks cheer QBs that attempt those type of plays (sacrifice your body to get that extra yard) but they are just a really bad idea because if the QB gets hurt their team is toast.
