    Terrific… the best finds are made when you least expect it. This kills my find of a 1926-s Lincoln 48 years ago.

    I told him that very thing, that this was probably grandpa’s coin collection and the grandkid either inherited or just swiped it and spent it as a literal penny. :D

    I think my friend will sell it eventually, but if that had been me finding it and then just only having grading costs, I would totally keep it as a trophy!

    I'd have gone back there and gotten the rest of the keys from that dumped collection.

    But they are long gone now.

    I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.

    Sad to say, but yep, somebody's kid "borrowed" from their parents' collection and most likely got a nice lollipop for it.

    I will take a glass half full view of this and propose it could have been part of a coin drop for a show in the region.

    What an amazing and outstanding find.
    About two months ago I saw just a few coins in the Wally World grocery coinstar return. My heart skipped a beat in the millisecond I saw 1955. Nope, immediately saw the D. Nice to know some folks are still finding and most of all RECOGNIZING what they have!

    Having fun while switching things up and focusing on a next level PCGS slabbed 1950+ type set, while still looking for great examples for the 7070.

    Recently found a nice 1920 Lincoln cent in a “need a penny” cup at Sam’s Club. I left a quarter for it! 😉

    Collector and dealer in obsolete currency. Always buying all obsolete bank notes and scrip.

    I wonder if this coin was "seeded" by a local dealer to spark interest in the hobby. I recall someone doing this in CA... Long Beach, perhaps??

    I've gotten 19-teens dated Lincoln Cents from circulation but they've all been pretty smooth... AG coins... that really look like they've been in circulation for 110 years. I've also "seeded" some of these... as well as dateless Buffalo Nickels and Merc Dimes (when silver was cheap!)... in the past. I was hoping that someone would find the IHC I released and post it here...
