Hmmmmm...... I might buy it for 25 dollars.. Not 330, however, if this graded ms66fbl by PCGs it would be a major score.....
I like the feedback on the current bidder treebeardsson.....

Yeah it looks full bell, but I have to always wonder why the owner of this coin didn't submit it, this coin in a 6 fbl would fetch over 2k easy.

You sure can't tell that's FBL by the scan, even by PCGS standards. Nice color. He's asking 65FBL prices for that BIN, though.

Seeing as there's only about 10 FBL 1959 Franklin FBLs around, makes you wonder why this guy with the great eye doesn't pony up $15 for a shot at PCGS himself. He can't be THAT busy!

is that all it costs to get a coin graded by PCGS i always thought it was near $30 + the shipping fees.

  • Its not a 66, reeding marks on the neck, nice mark on the forehead, big mark in the fields straight infront of his nose. It looks like it may be a FBL but the picture is so dark its impossible to tell.

If those marks on the bell are indeed scruff marks, it will not even fetch a 65 imo.

I just can't tell, I would need to see this one in person..... And the only way I would might be for 25 dollars.....

On the upclose pic of the bell lines the toning looks sorta splotchy like a baked or at'd chemically coin.

If it's too good to be true, it probably is! You can't tell from the picture whether its FBL. But, let's be serious, if the coin was 66 quality, it would be in a holder.

The bell lines are broken to the right of the crack and the coin is not a 66. My personal grade would be a 64, but the grading services would go a point higher for the color, which I don't like.

I have a few theories on this coin of why it isn't in a PCGS MS66FBL slab:

1- There's something wrong with it
2- There's something wrong with it
3- There's something wrong with it
    4- It's overgraded
5- There's something wrong with it

It's really hard to tell... It looks FBL, again, this one seems to be very deceptive...... the 59's don't tone in this manner from the mint sets... Atleast I don't think, isnt 58 the last year of the double cardboard sets?

I took a good close look at the coin again and that was exactly the thought that I had. It doesn't look right, especially for a 1959 coin. These were the first coins in the cello paks and they didn't tone this way. Below is the 59P from my registry set, and I bought it because it had nice album toning on it - but notice how the toning just barely creeps onto the reverse which is still mostly white. Then the next question comes up - if you had a $2000 coin, which is what a 66FBL in this date would certainly go for - wouldn't you spend the 20-30 dollars to have it graded? I smell a rat Lucille - keep your $25.

I agree, based on the scans, this coin isn't a 6, might make 5 though, have to see it up close to tell about that and whether the color sits right. maybe he's giving it a point for the color? the BIN would be ok if it slabbed 5, in 4 it's a $40 coin even if the BL are F. Raw I might pay the $40 and take a shot

  • Well, I worked a price and he took it! I will let you know what it grades, will be submitting at Long Beach. Any dupes will be sold! This submission is going to cost the BUCKS!

  • Boy Ill say one thing, the guy is no slouch when it comes to shipping! I recieved the coin today. Its definitely not a 66, a 64 that might go 65 because of the color! I would send it back if it wasnt for the color, looks way more rainbow than the scan, Im not a toning fan but some people are! The scratch in the field on the left is accompanied by a rim ding, not real bad though, only under 10x. It will just make FBL!
