I suspect that lots of people did. Whine all you want about the Mint and their prices, but, generally speaking, they have no problem selling what they make.

I remember paying $21 for proof ASEs from the Mint. Then, they raised the price to $23. But $95? That’s a quadruple in 38 years. Yikes! Time flies…

Thus, the price of the coin has almost exactly tracked the price of silver over that time.

Cancelled my subscription last year after over 20 years. I believe Greysheet has the past few years for Proof ASE's listed at $54 in OGP and PR69 and a PR70 at $68. Doesn't make sense to buy. I also think the Mint's sunk in fixed cost of production should be used to determine if the price is fair, not 3X silver spot. 38 years ago maybe it was $15, today lets assume double, $30. Price should be $70 at most for me to get back in. Also the packaging as gotten cheaper.

I forgot to cancel my subscription, they both arrived today and are just disappointing for the price..... Lots of tiny marks on them and one has a small scratch too. I disabled my subscription as soon as they arrived and I realized.

I only buy a single BU example for my Dansco every year. I was 9 years old when they started. My mom and dad bought me one every year until I graduated high school. I have filled the holes every year since graduating.

I received but have not opened my 1 subscription yet. At these prices the Mint needs to “salt in” another 2008 with reverse of 2007 to keep up interest.

Depends. If you want to stack silver, you buy the one that costs $37, which is also no bargain with spot silver trading under $28 as I write this. If you want a limited mintage collector coin, you buy the $91 version.
Definitely a little overpriced, but it is not an apples to apples comparison. I hate to be in the position of sticking up for the Mint, given the recent price increase, but do you know of ANY coin with a mintage under 200K that is worth anywhere near a similar coin with a mintage of around 20 million?
If not, you should not be comparing these two products and wondering which one to buy, as though they are the same. You might as well compare a 2024 Toyota Camry to a 2004 model, and ask which one to buy, with one costing significantly more than the other.

Excluding the limited mintage difference and crappy packaging, how exactly are they different for a 250% price bump? I think I better car analogy is comparing a new car with some added options, like better tires, paint job, suspension, etc. Not new vs old, jmho. And I wouldn't pay 2x sticker for those options, maybe 20%.

If you would only pay a 20% premium for a coin with literally 1% the mintage of a similar coin, you are not the target market. Which is fine. If everyone felt that way, proof and burnished eagles would not exist. But they do. So clearly, there is a market. For around 200K of each flavor, give or take.
