Was just at the post office trying to overnight something to my daughter and was told that Juneteenth Day is a postal holiday.

Looking forward to the postage increase in July as well. First class $.68 to $.73

    Fun times.

    Yup. No mail delivery tomorrow.

It's also a Federal Holiday. You know, like Christmas. The entire gov't is shut down!

Most people in the private sector don't get all of the so-called "Federal" holidays off. Been that way since at least when my parents joined the labor force.

What @BStrauss3 said. School is out for the summer around here. If school was in session they would be off. Not sure about pre-school. Per-school around here is like daycare. It's the private sector.

My daughter works for a county government and even though she started the job on Monday she has "juneteenth" off.

Wonder when the next new federal holiday will be announced. Must be nice being so efficient at your job you can celebrate special calendar days by taking the day off.

Banks are closed too for observance of the holiday.

Try tracking a package with USPS. Looks like the celebration has started early.

edited to add: Up and running now. 😊

i hope everyone notes that it's from ohio

i have been lost for the last two weeks that it's not may
first there was my kid saying it's almost june equinox, then the dr saying they have availability next week but not the week after because of the 4th, then the debate is the 26th which just has to be weeks away, then hearing it's juneteenth and i'm like when's that a couple of weeks?

one reason i forgot was the time warp, and it's a recently new holiday, but not everyone is employed, so this is another part of the reason i forgot it was a holiday

Stupid banks are closed. I hate useless holidays that block my coin schedule, (for instance: June 19th, Presidents day, Labor day, etc. You get my point).

    You mean June 19th, right?
