I owned the featured 1761-Mo 2R in my core denomination set for years.

I bought it in a 63 holder, ungraded it to a 63+, the. 64, then 64+. I tried 3 times for a 65 which it deserved and the. I sold the minors when I made a bigger purchase of 8 reales. One more try by the new owner put it in a 65+ holder.

Frustrating experience to say the least.

    from 63 to 65+

It was in a 65 holder, not 65+.

And the consignor last night lost money on the coin, if you account for the BP. This was true for several coins last night. Several retreads in the sale which sold for less than prior sales.

    Wow.

I recently bought my first 2R and happen to be of the same year too, not in my hands yet, waiting for it.

@ELuis the 1761-Mo 2R is a hoard coin and there are a bunch of nice ones out there. I don't know how many were in the hoard nor any details about it though.

    Pruebas,
This one was the nicest I found raw and in decent condition too.

As my first 2R I think it is fine.

I went this past weekend to a show, there was a guy that had some 2R from Mexico Mint, all the ones I saw were or looked that were cleaned and not in that nice condition, also expensive even with the off percentage that he was given, so, end up buying this one.

Was going to buy a 2R 1734 but had this, so I skip it:

    Thank you!

Did not knew that was a hoard of this year, also did not pay too much for my coin.

I have seen 4 or 5 gem 1761's. By far the most available date in high grade per the hoard comment.

Just a quick view on PCGS & NGC do not see too many in high grade listed on both sites.

At least for my coin I will hope to get an AU grade, will see, have several coins waiting to be sent for grading.

If this is true, what is the point of grading?
