Check out his stuff on ebay, seems that all are not his coins, amazing that ebay allows such a seller to grab other completed ebay sales and post them on his site for sale via current auction starting at $1.00. He seems has changed his name more than a heart can beat, ridiculous

    I've seen this before in other fields. The actual malefactor has hijacked a legitimate vendor's account and then posts these ads requiring off-site payments, and of course vanishes once he gets what he can. Whoever it is is remarkably persistent because this exact scheme has been going on for years.

    Probably could stand to remove the vendor's name from your thread title as he's actually a victim, not the perpetrator..

    It’s a hacked account I’ve been told. Been around for a minute and eBay has done nothing about it 🤷🏼‍♂️

    This "seller" has been doing this for multiple years on the ebay platform and uses the same contact info image in each one. As far as I can tell, these are all hacked zombie accounts and the images are likely stolen, too. The best you can do is report each one to ebay and use their dropdown menu to classify them as "attempts to avoid ebay fees" and "includes contact info". In that way, ebay can see that a slice of their income might be chewed into and they look at the listings.

    You would think that eBay, with all the technology we have now, would use simple text recognition on all images that are uploaded to find stuff like this and auto-kill the account.

    Exactly. It would be child's play, particularly since the "Buy Now Don't Bid" images hardly ever change. I'm sort of flummoxed as to why they don't bother.

    I reported one yesterday but so far ebay did not tell me what action they will take. Here is ebay's email:

    I reported several of them and received a reply from ebay that they could not find any violations to their TOS in the listings. However, all the listings disappeared.

    This snake has been posting this stuff in the American Coin Silver (ie spoons, etc) arena on ebay for years. He always uses the same very rare items as bait and always from stolen accounts. The quickest way to kill them is to contact the hacked account owner, rather than report it through ebay channels.

    ^ That's for sure. I've pretty much quit reporting even outrageous scams because ebay's AI tool rejects everything.

    A ja buyer on ebay bought a raw '14-D Lincoln cent from me, then unethically inflated the grade (from sharp vf to choice au) and listed it for sale with my images of the piece that he deliberately distorted. He did this before I could even get around to packaging it and sending to him in the mail. I don't sell on ebay anymore. Too much fraud.

    Mistakes are natural. But repeated mistakes without reflection are something else. That may be the “stupidity” he was referring to. In research, he admitted uncertainty openly. “If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?” This shows humility. Even a Nobel laureate accepted doubt. That humility makes the quote less cynical and more observational.
