A Rotated Merc?

Hi guys,
This Gem was recently given to me free from a friend in the mail, along with my coin
I purchased from him.
Never really seen any Mercury Dime with such a dramatic rotation, as this one.

    Very very common in the Merc series. All dates have rotation from time to time.

    Here is a question for you. Which die rotated?

    This is actually pretty common on 1916-D dimes and can be used as a point for authenticity. If I remember correctly, it's about the same degree of rotation, but in the opposite direction.

    I'd like to stick with my answer, given that the dies themselves show that the obverse was the anvil die.

    Here is an article with images of cancelled Mercury dime dies, in which it states "The reverse (hammer die) shows die number 163 stamped on the barrel, while the obverse (anvil die) shows die number 119. Both dies are in very good condition with minimal rust and handling."

    Please excuse me for not paying attention to the meaning of what an anvil die is. Flying Al is correct with his answer. A Merc anvil die is the obverse and the hammer die is the reverse.

    Unknown. Could be either die.
