Saw this coin on eBay and I strongly disagreed with the grade.

    I feel like I saw this one, and it was a 65 5FS, which it is not, I feel it is a 63, no FS.

    Very few FS Jeffersons have full complete lined steps. Many people think that an FS Nickel's steps should look like proof steps and just not that frequently does that occur. JMO
    Here are 4 MS68 steps from S mint nickels. None are near to a proof steps. When one is found, it should have a super premium attached. Grading companies should automatically give any truly full step nickel a + regardless of grade 63 up. Again, just my opinion. I have 40 or 50 slabbed FS 1938-1945 Jeffs and very few deserve a + for the steps.

    These come nice so no bump. This is a real tough one to grade but I'm guessing you wouldn't ask unless it went 64FS.

    While not deserving I can picture it in a 65FS holder.

    This is one coin you probably need to see in hand.

    I’m at 63 based on the pics, could see it as a 64 if the luster is super nice in hand.

    Based on this photo, I can’t say one way or the other about the FS designation.

    Knowing NGC it's a 66, no FS tho - they are actually harder on steps than PCGS imo.

    If we were all the same, the world would be an incredibly boring place.

    Sadly it misses FS as well as a 67. At the grade it also fails the straight face test. This coin the poster child (coin) of the day that really illustrates the subjective nature of grading. So let me introduce this as Exhibit #A...and I don't need Jack Benny for the Monologue.

    And don't get me wrong- it is a nice coin at MS65 without full steps
