Are 1878 Rev of 78 and 1878 Rev of 79 rare as toners?

I looked at the PCGS and did not see anything in the 1878/79 and one in the 1878/78. All are NGC stars.

    The rev 78 is common; the rev 79 less so but still not rare.

    Using PCGS coin price data, neither seem rare but the following appears to be consistent:
    79S rev of 78 has quite a premium and somewhat less easy to obtain in 65 and up grades. Even 64 is more difficult.
    78 7tf rev of 79 has a somewhat higher premium in 65 up grades.

    There are no rare business strike Morgan Dollars, other than conditional rarities. Every single issue is abundant. They are just highly in demand so they cost more and are relatively more difficult. But still not difficult.

    Some of the proofs are scarce. The 79-O Proof/Specimen is rare. Maybe there is another branch proof I'm not aware of that is rare?

    I should have been more specific. I was thinking of the toning when I put the thread up. I just don’t see anything with this type of toning.

    Stunning 1878 toners do come around, but it's not the date I think of first for toned Morgans, so perhaps they don't have premium-worthy toning as often as 83-O or 84-O, for example.

    It is a harder date for toning, I have this one in a PCGS 62+ holder:

    @U1chicago very nice coin.
    I cannot find anything for an 1878 review of 79.
    @messydesk I would think that a toner from a date that seldom produces nice toners would bring a premium because they are scarce. Just thinking out loud.
    I mean no disrespect.

    As far as the comment from @messydesk , I interpreted what he wrote as saying that 1878 isn't a date you see toned often. And when it is toned, the color tends to be more mild-so the premium isn't high. A more common date, like 83-O and 84-O, has more higher end toners and thus more sales history showing big premiums paid for the color. If an 1878 shows up with the type of color seen on an 83 or 84, it almost certainly will bring a large premium (likely more than you would see for a common date with the same level of color).

    I’ve seen a few nice 78 7TF toners but they aren’t common. The 78 Rev 79 is very hard to find with nice color. I own one (a 66*) and I think I have seen another.

    Yes, that's what I meant.

    I used to focus on Morgans & once put together a toned GEM 65 set of the 6 1878’s. Here’s the 79 rev:

    I can post the others if you would like to see them.

    @rnkmyer1 very nice coins.
    What do you think of mine?
    I think they are exquiste. I really like the banded color.
