I was a bit surprised at the closing price on this Lowball Ike dollar.

$385, in case people see this thread after the ebay auction records get purged. ;)

I was watching that too. It ended high but not as insanely high as I imagined it might go.

Hey, CAC thinks it's solid for the grade :)

I have a hard time believing some of these lowballs are real. Show me a world where Ikes actually circulated, let alone circulated enough to wear down to Fair condition

They circulated in Vegas, but I doubt any were lower than F/VF from casino use. I suspect most of the lowballs were pocket pieces.

One to be glad it's not a gold cac.

That’s a beauty! I remember when Ikes were heavily used in $1 slot machines in Las Vegas back in the 80s. They were also used in table games, instead of $1 chips.

    Stickeroo game?

Probably a bunch of crazy rich bidders at a bar? That’s more than a lot of people’s individual monthly food budget. Disgusting.

Haven’t seen one worn that slick.

For lowballs, CAC needs a sticker saying it didn't sticker. I wonder if that would bring a premium. :D
Maybe a red sticker that says "CAC 'C' (as in "C" coin for the grade), or a black sticker with a skull and crossbones. ;)

If CAC doesn't sticker it, it could mean that they think it's a problem coin---light cleaning, PVC, tooling, etc.
The reason low-ball coins have value is because they have a lot of natural wear but are also problem free.

This one seems to have benefited greatly by encapsulation.

Don't you really want a NON CAC stickered coin for a low ball set? Not solid for the grade, but rather just barely squeaks over the line?

This is one of the few slabbed coins that you don't want a gold CAC sticker. :D
