Grade this coin

I need help grading this coin.
It is certified by PCGS with a grade.
I'm wondering if others see the same thing I do.
I need the perspective of others.
Any & all comments, positive & negative, are welcome.

Thanks,

Chris

Copper nickel cents (1859-1864) aren’t given color designations.

I’ll guess MS63, due to what appears to be a long vertical scratch in front of the face and the distracting color. If the opening post hadn’t indicated that the coin received a grade, I would have guessed questionable color (in addition to the possible alloy issue).

I'm torn as to whether that line is on the coin or the slab.

I can understand that - hence my inclusion of “appears to be…”

So, the question I have is it Mint State or Proof ?
The details look strong to be a proof, the feathers, the diamonds & the leaves & the acorns (on the reverse) seem to strong a strike in detail to be a mint state coin.
Also, the fields do exhibit a semi-reflective exposure, much like a proof.
The dentils (sp?) seem strong, too.

Again, I'm trying to get some input.

I will post the photos from the auction, tomorrow.

    Thanks,

    Chris

It looks like a business strike to me. It could be the images, but I don’t see reflectivity to the surfaces.

    Here's the PCGS slab.

    Thanks for the comments.

    Awesome strike there :)

I've been working on a mint state set for a while now, and I see copper nickel Indians like this every now and then. Some are absolutely hammered, but most have soft strikes in some areas.

I wonder if it turned those burnt orange colors in the holder after a bad dip. I don't think it is a 64 now.
